Theres nothing like band camp...the burning asphalt of the schools parking lot containing uncountable drill sets brings back millions of memories from past season. It's august and you are sun burnt, sore, and tired from you exhausting summer, which is sadly coming to a close. Your horn weighs a thousand pounds, or at least you swear it does... your shoulders ache from the day before and the day before that... your skin might as well just melt off from the back to backsun burns you've been getting. Your shoes, that are still wet from the the day before when it rained unstoppably, are soaking through your socks as you trudge across that big old parking lot, or if youre lucky for once, the football field. Your worn out coordinate sheet looks like a 500-year-old sea scroll discovered in the Atlantic. the heat is your enemy, and the once-in-awhile cool breeze feels like an angle sent from above. when night falls, and your day of hard work is over, you're relieved yet saddened that we didnt get every thing done that we were supposed to. The morning sun, or alarm clock...some people are different, wakes you up the next morning. You dont know how to feel, relieved or tired, because of course...BAND CAMP ISN'T OVER YET!!! It's now time to do everything that you've done for the past couple days all over again, you set out for the tiring 12 hour day ahead of you with your best friends...your water jug and good old spf 3,000 (you know you'll need it)...and you comtinue on to the goal...FINISHING AS MUCH OF THE SHOW AS POSSIBLE!!!
It's now midseason and you have been marching the same drill and playing the same music for what seems like an eternity. The same instructors have been yelling and glaring at the same people and the same orders have been yelled from the scaffolding above. The same speeches have been said, the same counts have been drilled into your memory. The same idiotic peopledrive by beeping and yelling the same days of the week that you've been practicing on since the beginning of time. You still have the same view of the back of your fellow comrades head in front of you in the same drill set that everyone marched over and over fifty million times. Sometimes you wished you hadnt survived band camp so you wouldnt have to go through this cycle, but or course- you never ever mean it.
It's the week before the last competition, you have rocked at some this season-you know to the point where the director wanted to trow bombs at you and then there are some where you wish you could just forget. You've been humming your show in math class and marching down the hallway almost the whole beginning of your new school year. Anticipation of the contest looms in the air as you work towards the event which consiste\s of everything youve worked for thes whole season. you dont mind the repetition now... you are used to it...you are conditioned to go back and do it again and again and again....and you enjoy it, you laugh, you joke and sometimes you get in trouble...you focus again and everything makes sense. It's weird to think that everything you've worked for is coming down to the biggest performance of the season...it'll all be over in the next eleven minutes or so, then you'll never march with those same beloved seniors in your band again. some seniors get excited, but depressed that it is their last perfomance with...*here it comes over the loud speaker*... "THE (your high school name goes here) MARCHING (mascott goes here)"...you wait anxiously fror the drum majors to count off, are you ready??? It doesnt matter, now there's no turning back...
Its the morning after the last competition... you rocked the house!... but now there is no tomorrow... you are finished...you season is now complete, all you have left to remember that performance are those hunk-a-junk trophies in the band room that the drummers will probably break next week...yet your stories are endless. you remember the times at rest stops where you and you crazy friends ran a muck, or the time when you had your eye on that one guy or girl. Your laughs and pains from the season which is now in the past, is only a figment of your imagination. Yet you always hang on to your memories, and especially of your greatest accomplishment... the pride in finishing another great season.

we aren't going to have a band trip to detroit.

But we might be having a band trip to WonderLand!!!
I've never been there buts it's a amusement park.
And Our teacher is only going to take the first semster kids, and the after school SBG(Special band Group)
And thanks to my great mind that forgets everything.
My teacher's letting me play bass guitar for a couple songs(cause I kept forgetting my sax stuff).

Tell me a good band story.~~We (the band i mean) were about to do some circle drill and out of nowhere it down pours...well hello its florida and summerband is like in august so the nice cool rain feels great on sunburned cheeks but it also makes your horn wet and drying that sucker off is no fun. we ran circle drill for about 3 run throughs and my band director...says...alright pack it up...time for you guys to get out...so were getting ready to leave and then he goes...WAIT!...who wants to have a lock-in?...and every1 is tired so why not stay the night in good old sandalwood high?...so all of us called our parents and we stayed the night in the school...we marched for a good 2 1/2 hours after we got semi dried off...all in all..it was a band experience i'll never forget~~

Tell me a good band story. Umm... I come from a long line of Trombone players (it seems), and I had band with my brother for a good two years, so early morning pratices often had to be stopped to shut the two of us up becuase we would always joke around or blast it or fake it and sound horrible.

Tell me a good band story. After our first football game this year, we were on the way home. We were on the bus and our director let us sit co-ed on the way home. Well, the senior Tuba player had his window down, and a girl spit out her window and it came back and landed on his glasses. It was pretty funny considering who the boy and girl were, because the guy shouted, "At first I thought that was something else" and our director flipped out. It was great, but you would've had to have been there. (Sorry if this is a lame story...couldn't think of anything else)

Tell me a good band story. During drumline we use amplified electric keyboards. We have those big Yamaha ones I think. While the line was on break, my brother dared one of his friends to push the "DJ" button on one of the keyboards. Little did his friend know that when the button is pushed, it screams "DJ!" really really loud. He was given push-ups as punishment.

allright, me and my friends were sitting eating Dinner. we had just finished with a long hard 13 hour day at band camp. We're all sitting, seeing who could fit the most pizza in thier mouths and Joking about Fetus' (Thats a little tradition in my band) when all of a sudden my friend ken who was sitting next to me lets out a fart. Everyone got DEAD silent. We all turn to him and he goes "Whoa...I farted!" ....everyone just DIED of laughter. lol. ayup..then later on we used that same little incident in our skit (last day of band camp after working hard we get to play games and perform skits). It was Grrreat.

Ever gone to band camp (;-))? That's where the story below is coming from hahahah!
Tell me a good band story.: Well, one time at band camp...literally...I was upstairs in our band room with my girlfriend who got back from her Oregon Crusader's first place beat down at DCI, and we were...yeah. Nothin goin on there, i swear...anyways, what we didnt know is that our brass instructor (I call him a penguin...he kinda waddles..but his name was Suskin [sp]), our marching coordinator (sutton), and our BAND DIRECTOR (Prunk..CRAP!) were right below us downstairs. Since the lights were kinda off the whole time, i dont think it would have been so fantastic for both of us to just wander down stairs. But i braved the insults first and came down the stairs and i got stared at by all of them..and its the blank band "what were you just doing?" stare. But i got questioned by suskin, and sutton, and my BD just stared at me, trying not to smile. I left after being nagged about it, and saying no one else was up there..yeah that worked..NOT. SO, after trying not to laugh while walking away from them, suskin decides to start up the stairs yelling my girlfriend's name..crap...so, he gets about 1/4 up the stairs and im already sitting down hiding my face, laughing my butt off, she comes running out, red-faced and trying not to hide her embarrassment. Thats when i lost it and started laughing..yeah, some of the instructors that heard about it and my band director still wont let me forget it..but hey, i cant complain. I was havin fun lol

Favorite singers/musicians/bands? Just about everything but opera..and most of the oldies..cant stand em. But just about everything else (oh, and most rap..the old school stuff is good) i can stand and enjoy.
Favorite movies? HOH BOY! Boondock Saints takes the cake as the favorite. Anyone who hasnt seen it, see it. Anyone who has..no advice needed, youre perfect. A few others are National Treasure, The Italian Job (newer), Garden State, The Rock (not the wrestler..the movie..), and Robin Williams: Live on Broadway 2002
Favorite books? Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, and..some other ones I'm sure..
Favorite class? Wind Ensemble. No matter what has happened during the day, WE almost always gets me in a better mood. That's why I'm becoming a director...hopefully..as soon as i can get this theory crap under my thumb..

Ok so today was the first day of finals wahoo, anywho i had health where me and greg played cards after the final. Then in Band Bowman had jury duty HAHA!! so i didnt have him i had Prunk, So all we did is our stupid chair test I did so bad on it! I stopped and he was like go slower so i did then at the end i stoped and he was like keep going i was like thats all. Then after the final we ran around for and an hour and a half. Then after school i was talking to Prunk and i was like im quitting band he was like NO YOUR NOT! I was like no but what if i did. He was like you would then this went on for a while tell he was like why would you quit band i was like well your not the teacher anymore(yeah im a suck up) Then he was liek well in the past 4 classes ive been yoru teacher 3 times. I was like soooooo.... Then we somehow got to him say you cant quit cuz you need my abuse. (yeah RANDOM!) But it was entertaining Dang i said like so many freakin times in this entry but whatever.
