Hi everyone,
I'm a lurker, crafter, and graduate student studying fandom crafting for my masters thesis, and I'm doing a short informal questionnaire about fan craft over at my journal. If anyone happens to be interested and wants to answer a few questions, I'd really appreciate it!

Some of my recent projects.

A second attempt at a Sherlock Holmes cameo. I made the first out of super sculpy, and this one out of black and pearl fimo. I'm still not super pleased with this, but I haven't had a chance to make another yet. It's pictured on some knit up handspun that was supposed to be caliometry from knitty, but ended up being too big for me.

A WIP fingerless glove from this pattern by Jennifer Amey. Inspired by Amy Pond and knit in TARDIS blue

I've not had a chance to knit the last bit of cuff or the thumb yet, but I think I like how it's coming out.

Hmm I seem to have sent a couple of things off without taking photos. I made a shrinky dink keychain with a Budda, horse, and rocket inspired by the quote "Dear Buddha, please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket". I have the original sketch that I can upload if anyone is interested. And then a reusable envelope that fits a condom with the words "Were I unwed I would take you in a manly fashion" on it.

This community has been quiet a little while.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a couple of geeky dolls I made recently.

First, Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager

He is jointed and has movable fingers and all of his clothes are removable.

And his communicator pin which is actually a pin I made and can be removed from his uniform.

And next, Jen the gelfling from the Jim Henson movie Dark Crystal.

In all his glory! I'm a little in love with him, actually. He came out so cute! He is also jointed and has movable fingers.

This is sortof crafty, myself and two friends just spent the last week and a half writing, recording and editing an iRiff (Think MST3K) for the Twilight Movie

After a long and hellish week of watching a bootleg copy of this over and over and over and over again and finally recording all the jokes we made THIS!! The very first Twilight RiffTrax.

If you think back, I'm sure we all can remember a time that we were an innocent, naive 13-year-old girl who wanted nothing more than for the cute older boy in our class to look our way and realize how special we were beneath our clumsy exterior. For most of us, the story ended with us realizing that the older boy in our class was held back because he'd huffed so much paint he couldn't spell his name without entering a trance-like state, and us realizing we were young men from the Midwest randomly dreaming of older men in a society more stringent than that portrayed in Brokeback Mountain when it came to such things. For Stephanie Meyer, however, she takes this premise, makes the boy a sparkling vampire who doesn't kill humans, and Mary Sues herselfright into the midst of things.

Whether you love it or hate it, there's certainly no denying that Twilight exists. So whether you're a Twi-hater, the boyfriend, husband, father or some other relation to a Twi-lover and you're sick of it and just want something to deaden the vapid silences rampant in this film (you can throw it on an MP3 player & enjoy the film in your own special way!), OR (slightly less likely) you're a Twi-lover and want to use this as an excuse to show it to friends ('no, no, this makes fun of it!' but secretly you're hoping the magic will sweep them away despite all the silly voices...), this is the Riff for you!

Star Wars Cubes!!

I was inspired by a wonderful crafter on Craftster.org and decided to make these adorable cubes for my niece and nephew for Christmas this year.

The pictures!

I made a Yoda, a Leia, a Red Guard, and a Vader. I had a good time with them. My favorite, I think, is Leia. I also love Yoda. I think I could have done better with Vader, but I didn't have as much time as I would have hoped for him. I might give him another go. Anyway, I had fun and hope you like them!

Stargate Cake

Here's a picture of the Stargate Cake I made in honor of the 200th episode of Stargate SG1. It's angel food, because the pan is already conveniently shaped. Originally we wanted to do blue jello in the middle, but couldn't figure out how to do it without the jello soaking into the cake. So we colored an inner circle of frosting blue instead and used blue gel icing for the symbols.
