After weeks of preparation its here...

The Karn8 'DIRT TOUR' is set to hit all over the south this April, including slots with some awesome bands and headlining shows all over. Keep an eye out for the tour ad in Kerrang and tour posters all over. During the tour Karn8 will be playing brand new songs that may end up on our next album , as well as some old favourites with a new twist!

Well 2010 is here and it looks set to be a year to remember for Karn8, especially after 2009 which was the band's most successful year to date. We achieved a hell of a lot and its easy to take it all for granted. So we thought we'd give you a quick re-cap...

Karn8 played almost 40 gigs in 2009 (but wanted more) one of the highlights being The Rocksound Stage at Guilfest supporting You Me At Six and Attack Attack!. Other awesome bands we played with included To The Bones, My Passion and the awesome Senser.

Whats Next?...

The new year has already started full tilt, with us diving straight into recording pre-production demos of our new material, which will hopefully become our new album in 2010. Many gigs and mini tours are also being discussed and hopefully well be out and about playing live very soon.

The future of the music industry is here: now fans choose the music! The revolution that was started by Oswald band is happening now!

It's all about choice: Do you like when somebody else decides what you should listen to? Do you like the pop stuff that's falling on you from TV screens? This was the problem, the guys from Oswald were thinking about, and they found the perfect way to change this situation. They decided to let their fans choose what the band's next single will be. The fans were asked to vote for their favorite Oswald song and their voice has been heard!

So now, when the voting is over we can proudly say - Oswald fans became a part of the newest music industry model which puts fans first!

Oswald - new release from UK indie-rock scene

Oswald is a new and perspective band from Glasgow, UK.
This three guys r making rly awesome music. Their first single "These Days" voted Single of the month on BBC Radio.
Oswald fully recorded three new songs last week at Konk Studios in London. This was the second time the band has used Konk to do their recordings.

Its been just under two weeks since Karn8 played the Rocksound Cave at Guilfest and we thought this would be a good time to look back on the performance and let you in on some of the feedback and photographs we have received after the performance.

Guilfest Reviews
These are a couple of the reviews we have had in so far:

"It’s been a slow start at Guilfest on Friday so we’re more than ready for some dirty rock and roll and fortunately Karn8 are on hand to deliver the goods. This Hampshire based three piece centre around drums and guitar (courtesy of Leigh and Bones respectively) with singer Kirst providing the vocals and occasional additional guitar duties. The music is upbeat rock and roll leaning distinctly towards the garage end of the genre populated by the likes of MC5, although to bring it up to date they remind me of Juliette & The Licks. Kirst has some well practiced moves straight from the Debby Harry book of stage craft and she makes a compelling figure.

They mix up styles nicely with songs like ‘Old No.7’ dipping into smoke filled blues bars, whilst ‘Where the Fires Play’ rips it up like the Stooges at their most intense. The set isn’t without it’s problems however, the horrendous drone that plagued this tent last year threatens to return and it’s just not loud enough. The problem with this is firstly that it prevents Kirst’s voice from carrying too well and secondly that what should be bold slabs of rock and roll fall a little flat. That aside though it’s an assured and confident performance and they even pull off a passable version of The Doors' ‘Wild Child’. All in all it’s good stuff but they really need to be seen in a club venue with the volume cranked to the max."

Front woman Kirst has a sultry and seductive vocal which draws you in only to be blown away by the heavy growl which hits the back of the tent, this really gives the band a depth and quality that many bands would like to have. They take in many styles of music and mix them up to create their own unique sound, which has certainly earned them an army of fans, many of which seem to be here to see them today as the tent is packed."

Karn8 have been confirmed to play on the Rocksound stage at this years Guilfest Music Festival with other great bands such as We are The Ocean and many more. We are on stage at 6.30pm on Friday 10th July, so plenty of time to catch Motorhead afterwards!

"Of All The Strange Things is an excellent display of gritty rock music and to be perfectly frank, despite it falling outside my area of expertise, it's impossible to put a finger on anything decidedly bad here. Where it succeeds most prominently is in the tone and character of just about every song. Close your eyes and you'll find yourself lying on your back in a rye field, sipping a glass of bourbon, reminiscing about the good old days. Much of this owes to Kirst's sexy, Southern-tinged vocal performance, which gives the album its sleazy, laid back attitude that probably owes as much to the old school punk mentality as it does to country rock legends like Johnny Cash. All this sounds like mere name-dropping of course, but it's necessary to convey the hugely eclectic nature of Karn8's music. And yet despite the wide spectrum of influences the album maintains its focus... Lahannya Tour - B'ham 21 May - NEW VENUE

Due to an unfortunate double-booking at The Flapper we had to move the Lahannya / Dyonisis / Tin Omen show to Eddie's Rock Club @ Busk, Gough Street, Birmingham B1 1HN. Entry to the gig now includes free entry to the club night afterwards as long as you're 18 or over. It's a request night, so you should hear plenty of music you like!

Please spread the word, I wouldn't want anyone turning up at the wrong venue!

The album was recorded and produced by the band and mastered by Clive Cherry at Tongue and Groove Studios. It has taken two years to complete and we are very proud of the results. Album Review

"What is noticeable as the second track kicks in is that Karn8 inject a lot of energy to their music - there’s a bit of a Rage Against The Machine thing going on in ‘As If You Could’ and ‘Strip’ opens up to a noisy distorted guitar riff in the choruses. The return at the end of ‘Running Free’ has the building blocks of something that could turn into an extended Kyuss-esque jam but sadly doesn’t.

Female singer Kirst’s sultry voice really shines on ‘True Face’, a stripped down song made up of a moving bass line and precise cymbal clangs. In fact the entire album is held together by some really nice bass grooves throughout, courtesy of Bones, and the whole thing is bookended by the sombre acoustic guitar led ‘Wasteland’ and its reprise.

It’s obvious that the band have been working hard to find sound and it really shows. The version of ‘Where The Fires Play’ on this album is much better than the early single release as the mix is a lot more balanced and it just livelier. These are songs that have possibly been written to be played live rather than played back on a record.

The production is raw and organic which is what usually happens when bands record things themselves meaning that the drums sound like drums, the guitars like guitars and so on without being pro tooled to death. That’s not to say it’s bad or sloppy, just that it captures a live feel and an essence of a group of people having fun with their music.

They haven’t created a new genre or discovered new song structures, what they have done is produce 12 songs, whether good, bad or average, that really link together in one fully formed package. There is room for improvement, some of the song such as ‘Over’ are forgettable and don’t really go anywhere, but very few bands make a five star album first time round.

They’re not original, not trying new or different but Karn8 do a pretty good job at making an album that follows the traditional rock standard. On Of All The Strange Things the band deliver nuts and bolts rock ‘n’ roll that harks back to the days when guitar bands played guitar songs and is not too dissimilar to some of the groups currently flirting with the mainstream or apart of it."
