Hello my dears! I just wanted to plug a Beatles-related community of mine here, see if some of you might be interested.
(xposted, sorry!)

Nothing Is Real is a Beatles role play community! It partly deals with mature themes, which is why we are friends only, but you can of course join just to read the threads. We are open to gen, het and slash. AUs are accepted, but not original characters. The game is mostly centred around the Beatles but any character even loosely connected with the 60s or 70s art scene is welcome, really. We would love to have Sean and Dhani around, too!

It's a 'no strings attached' sort of role play which basically means that you can apply for as many characters as you want, Beatles, Beatles wives or friends and there can be as many players as we want, even for the same characters. You can also choose your time and space span, build it up through several threads or jump from one thing to the other freely. It fact it isn't a well-built rp as much as a den, a place for you to meet other role players and start threads freely with the ones you like.

If you are interested in role playing in the Beatles universe, don't be scared to have a look around at the rules and introduction posts, an PM me if you have any questions! Role playing is pretty much like reading/writing fan-fiction, except that you do it with one or several other people, which is always good fun, unexpected and stimulating. Hoping to see you around!

Haven't forgotten about you all, nor Seanhi... you're all overdue for a massive post but this is just a quick one -- albeit filled with interesting news. :)

Dhani made Rolling Stone's 2008 Hot List as Hot Singer -- scan credit goes to starrshine720 @ beatlepics -- check out the stunning black and white portrait. To keep it full-circle, I've included a striking black and white photo of Sean as well. ♥

And just for fun, let's compare the Into the Sun and You Are Here debut album reviews. I'll throw in FF as well, which I think has the best review.

On this debut, twenty-two-year-old Sean Lennon gets jealous, wonders whether he's being pulled down the bathtub drain, obsesses about his girlfriend, jumps on a spaceship, feels restless, listens to country & western and watches what at one point he characterizes as "one hundred weeks" of TV. In the process, Lennon – the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono – creates a zippy, laid-back, smart-as-shit boho paradise informed by both uptown comfort and downtown adventure. He accomplishes all this in a sweet voice that is almost Brazilian in its confident naturalness and flexibility. It's an unassuming, lived-in kind of voice, and on Into the Sun it works. It unites songs as diverse as the homey "Home" and the spectacularly swingy "Two Fine Lovers"; it renders Lennon as the documentarian of his own life, the only guy to tell his story.

Into the Sun isn't about sound or narrative or – remarkably, these days – other records; it's about the crumbling of pop categories at the end of a century so rich in musical options that stylistic tightfistedness just seems silly. And working with producer Yuka Honda, of Cibo Matto, and a host of resourceful and eclectic New York musicians, Lennon is up to proving this point. Of all the albums that rock-star spawn have released lately, singer-guitarist Dhani Harrison's first full-length may be the most experimental. There's no denying the vocal and melodic similarities between his duo Thenewno2 and his late father, George Harrison. But on You Are Here, Harrison and multi-instrumentalist Oliver Hecks take what they've borrowed from the Beatles, Brian Eno and Massive Attack in new directions, combining musique concrète, backward recordings and ambient synth flourishes into pop gems like "Back to You." The result is a subtle mix of gentle vocals and electronics, with layered beats, throbbing bass and occasional wailing guitar. From the loud and liberating ("Yomp") to the airy and psychedelic ("Hiding Out"), it's a promising debut.

Into the Sun, Sean Lennon's 1998 debut, was the casually jazzy album of a young New York celebrity with the talents and the means to explore any sort of music that piqued his wide-ranging twenty-two-year-old curiosities. Then he split with his longtime girlfriend after she cheated on him with his best friend; a year and a half later, Lennon's best friend died in a motorcycle accident, without Lennon reconciling with him. These events have yielded an album of angry, guilty, sad - and often stunningly pretty - songs. Relying on a four-piece rock band instead of parts he overdubbed himself, Lennon maintains an ornamented, deliberate style as persuasively as his debut album jumped around. Songs like "Dead Meat" are strong meshes of smooth lyrics and melody that are based in the great tradition of Beatlesque pop tunes. Even more pronounced than the influence of Lennon's dad's band is the shadow of Fiona Apple: Like her music, Lennon's songs, with their rocked-up theater and easy cerebral nature, make complex emotions sing.

IMO, I would consider Into the Sun as a 90s indie classic, while You are Here and Friendly Fire more on par with each other. Sean says he'll have a new record out by next year which I absolutely cannot wait for. It's a sign of really good progress... speaking of new albums, that brings me to a huge Sean news item. He announced on his official message board that he's leaving Capitol and starting Chimera Music, which will see the release of his third solo album as well as GOASTT record. (!!!) If you're not registered on his board yet, I would definitely recommend it... he posts things exclusively there that's not anywhere else, like MySpace or Facebook.

Dear Everyone, (Seanions, and non-Seanions alike),

I know things have been a little slow on the board lately. That's mainly because I've just been so busy.

Without giving away to much, I'll simply say (and I'm not saying this to the press yet, so it's for you guys only), that I've decided to start a record label, so that Charlotte, Yuka, and I can put out our own music, without anyone else telling us what to do.

Needless to say this is very very exciting for all of us.

There has been much grunt work involved. The company is run by the three of us, working with one or two other close friends.

The Company is called Chimera Music. Now if you Google Chimera Music, you may find some other random MS page with that name. Ignore it. Pay no attention because they are not a company. We are the only Chimera Music Company.

We've been working on everything from the new GOASTT record, to my solo record, to designing logos, getting artwork ready, meeting with distributors, and designing packaging; now that we run a company, there is ten times more work than before, but honestly, it's ten times more fun!

I can promise you that now that I have a label, I'll be publishing much more music. Before it was hard because I had to please the bureaucrats.

We are also going to be doing a Chimera Membership Club. So I'm hoping many of you will want to sign up. We'll be giving out ID numbers, that will give each member special opportunities and privileges. Eventually we may be even issuing Chimera passports for the most elite of our hardcore fans.

Hopefully all of this stuff will be together in the first quarter of next year.

We have Chimeramusic.com, but it's blocked for now...because it isn't ready yet...so please be patient.

The first release will be the R and G are Undead score in the beginning of next year. To sort of test the waters.

We'll be doing limited edition Vinyl as well, mastered with a tube mastering lathe in Los Angeles, by the only guy who still does it that way...(I did a FF vinyl master too that sounds incredible, but there weren't many printed, Capitol only sent me ten).

The idea behind Chimera is to make it like a small restaurant, that doesn't serve many tables, but has the best food and the best reputation.

We will only be releasing music of the highest possible quality, so if you see it's a Chimera release, you can be pretty sure that it will be worth getting.

Thank you to everyone on this board for supporting me over the past few years, and bringing me to this point where I've finally figured out how best to conduct my life and my career. I have all of you to thank.

What will this mean for SOL.com? Well in fact it's just going to get better, because we'll eventually be linking to Chimera, where there will be tons of activity...and when my new record is ready, I'll be doing tons of original content exclusively for this site.

Hey guys! Sorry, sorry, sorry. I know, I've been a neglectful moddy. Sean and Dhani have kept pretty busy; Sean moreso than Dhani, I have to admit. But hey, we've gotten new pictures out of both of them! Some of which have Dhani emulating Sean's dapper style, and that is a cool thing. ;) I've decided to divide this post into 2 parts. We'll start with Sean news + pics first.

Having read myriad messages requesting I break the silence with some form of update I stand (sit) before you now.

Well let’s see…there was Bob Weir’s 60th birthday bash in SF. It was very interesting to see how he thinks. I feel that I learn a lot in terms of what authentic ‘jamming,’ really entails. Harper was incredible occupying the Garcia position. He’s destined for that sort of gig. Also, I met an interesting scientist whose father discovered plutonium, among other elements. Had a chance to walk some nature trails as well.

The next day I flew to Los Angeles where my Would I Be The One animation was screening at an animation festival. The reason for this was that it had been picked up for a re-release of what is perhaps my favorite film of all time Le Planete Sauvage, on DVD. After some projector malfunctioning both films were screened, which was a great honor to me.

Right after the screening I went to the airport and took the red eye to NY, (which has something to do with why I left my computer at Carrie’s house in LA, and have been more quiet than usual). The next morning I flew to London to perform with my old friend Mark Ronson for a BBC ‘Electric Proms,’ festival. Because Mark’s record was number 2 on the charts in the UK, the buzz around the show and his tour was tremendous. After the show, Mark and I went out for a drink, and he asked me to stay the rest of the tour. Of course I did. So then we went to Norwich and Bristol, and other English towns the likes of which I’d never seen. I found myself back on the tour bus again, but this time with a full horn section, three singers, and a rapper named Wale. I also became very close to the bass player, Stuart, formerly of Jamiroquai fame, (someone can help me with the spelling of that band I hope). Played a few gigs, had some meetings in London, and then flew to Paris to play Ellysee Monmartre (sp) in Paris with Mark.

Around this time I got an email from Chanel. You see, I’ll be preparing the music to back Irina for their show in London 6 Dec. Because of this, it turned out Karl wanted to take a picture of Irina and I at his house near St. Tropez. I found myself conveniently in France, so I hopped on a plane to Toulon.

That area of the world is of course gorgeous as to be expected: vine covered hills, medieval farmhouses and churches, all framed by the silver sparkled, sail boat speckled shine of the Mediterranean. I must say however, culturally, that sort of Euro-bourgeois culture, with its yachts and sunglasses and gold chains and botox, I find uninteresting to say the least.

It was a privilege meeting Mr. Lagerfield, a man for whom I have the utmost respect. He worked very quickly. The whole thing was over in an hour. He gave me a few bow ties, which I thought was very generous. He also gave me pointers on how to stand for a camera. Very top secret stuff. The most surprising thing about the shoot, since his talent I expected, was his kindness. He’s just a really friendly guy.

The next morning I flew out. Now I am awash with work. Helping Jordan with his film, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead. Helping Charlotte with a film she’s producing as well. Also starting rehearsals for Chanel. There may be a few other things in the works, but as Hemingway said, ‘If you speak of it, you lose it.’

By the way, today there was a landmark UFO conference in D.C. with top military officials from 7 countries including the US. Might be fun to look into.

I believe they've been dating since this past summer, and they even started collaborating musically together! I'll get to that in a few. On 12/8:
Even harder for me is watching what was taken away from our beautiful boy, Sean.
He lives in silent anger over not having his Dad, whom he loved so much, around to share his life with. I know we are not alone. Our pain is one shared by many other families who are suffering as the victims of senseless violence. This pain has to stop.

On 12/12:
After the concert in Japan, I rushed back home to New York, so I could start taking care of the holiday preparations for my family. We celebrate the holidays, more or less in the way we have done since John and I've made N.Y. our home. Sean comes home, every year, from wherever he is, to decorate the xmas tree in the kitchen, as he always has. He is making his mother very happy by doing so, and he knows it!

End of act I.

As far as music news, Dhani's collaboration on 'The Heart Gently Weeps' from Wu-Tang's new album 8 Diagrams has been out for a while. There hasn't been any thenewno2 news - the last thing Dhani said was that the album was almost done and that was back in August, so we better see that album this year. ;)

He was out and about in NY and London this past November for Eric Clapton's book launch, and a DVD launch for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

There are new photos of Dhani Harrison today, along with Paul McCartney's son, James Louis. :) They're really very cute - should we call them Dhames? Hahaha, jk. I'll be posting them in a cut.
