one of those creepy nights...
A huge thunderstorm and pounding rain rocked my city last night. Sometime around after midnight, I was doing the last leg of my AM PICC line draws and was counting down the thunder as I went along, (a la Alfred Hitchcock's "An Unlocked Window" -- that episode about a serial nurse killer on the loose.) Anyways all alone in the wing, prepping my last picc draw when suddenly a huge BANG rocked my hospital and the deafening fire alarms screeched and every freaking door around me automatically shut and trapped me in the hall. Alone.
FUUUUuuuuUuuUuuuuuuuu!
Luckily the doors aren't locked. No fire. No one pinged an Ativan afterwards. Everyone seemed pretty calm. I think it took us a good 30 minutes to figure out how to silence the thing although the neighbors outside sent a police to us for "disrupting the peace".
Oh yeah, not to mention the rain flooded two of the rooms again, sending a patient over to my wing...oh wait...noooo! Not HER. Not that dilaudid-hungry-PRN-milking-Q1-hour-bell-p inging-lady! Oh gawwwd, nooo! The horror!!
