A COLD WAVE OF POST PUNK MIX
New Wave, Dark Wave, No Wave, Cold Wave, Industrial, Electronic, Post Punk, Goth Rock...there are many expressions for the music that had emerged from the punk explosion of 1977 in the UK. Name it as u want.
When UK Punk itself reached it's commercial & short peak in 77/78, many of their prominent founding bands had already disolved. But some of their most cheerful fans had gotten their hands already on own unique kinds of sounds, pushing the limits of punk to further extends. While bands like the Sex Pistols weren't able to get rid of nilistique cliches or others like The Clash simply transformed into a classical rock'n'roll band, new bands like Gang of Four or Joy Division brought new fresh strutures into the term punk without any consideration of stupid reglements.
Esp. popular in England, Germany & France and mostly tagged as "post punk", this development had profen a long, varied & influential history, although it wasn't that prominent as punk itself. But the original post-punk movement ended as the bands associated with the movement moved away from its aesthetics, just as post-punk bands had originally left punk rock behind in favor of new sounds.
New subcultures emerged, from the goth scene in the UK, to the German underground New Wave culture, to the French cold wave movement. Dark lyrics with an undertone of sorrow, electronic sounds, experimental music arangegments were identical basics within those developments.
What's here to be found in the playlist is an arangement of mostly independent underground bands coming from earlier named countries, spanning the years of its mostly active phase, from 78 til 85.
