Joy Woodke, COE, OCS, OCSR

Joy Woodke

Ms. Woodke is the Academy’s director of coding and reimbursement. Her 35+ years of experience in ophthalmology includes all aspects of practice management, accounting, coding and billing. She is the author of the Profitable Retina Practice series and senior editor of the Academy’s coding product line. Ms. Woodke is a recipient of the Academy's Secretariat and Achievement Awards.


Matthew Baugh, MHA, COT, OSC, OCS, OCSR
Academy Coding and Clinical Teams Manager
Matthew Bough

Mr. Baugh's management experience includes overseeing compliance, internal audits, quality improvement projects, and clinical operations at the Moran Eye Center. His experience includes working as an optician, scribe, technician, and ophthalmic technician supervisor. He is a contributing author to the entire line of Academy coding products and a recipient of the Academy's Secretariat Award.

Heather Dunn

Ms. Dunn has more than 20 years of experience in ophthalmology practices. She worked as an ophthalmic assistant, optical technician, insurance biller, and then was administrator of a private practice for 17 years. Under direction of the AAPOS, she helped initiate a practice manager program for pediatric ophthalmology and received an Academy achievement award. She is a contributing author of the Academy coding products line.

Matthew Bough

Before joining the Academy, Ms. Jost was the National Training Manager of Clinical Education at EyeCare Partners (ECP), where she focused on building technician training programs, promoted continuing education and certification, and developed trainers. With 28 years experience, she has held clinical, surgical, training, and research roles at Cincinnati Eye Institute, CVP Physicians, and Mercy College of Ohio. She is a past president of the Association of Technical Personnel in Ophthalmology (ATPO), which later became AAOP. Ms. Jost has delivered more than 260 training presentations around the world and is a recipient of the Academy's Secretariat Award.

How does the consultation take place?

Hourly consultations are provided by phone; daily consultations can be performed virtually by phone or video conference, or on-site with a pre-planning call and a follow-up call.

How much do consultation services cost?
  • Hourly remote (offsite) - Academy members: $300 per hour / nonmembers: $750 per hour
  • Daily onsite - Academy members: $3600 / nonmembers: $7200
What's included in the price of daily onsite consultations?
  • One-hour pre-planning phone call
  • Eight hours of on-site consultation ($300 per hour for each additional hour)
  • Travel, lodging and meals
  • One hour of follow-up via phone/email to review summary report
What types of guidance will Academy experts provide?
Each private consultation is tailored towards your unique situation. For example, our experts can advise you and your team on special topics such as contigency planning for unforeseen financial disruptions, how to conduct internal chart audits of E/M and Eye visit codes, or help you create an efficient billing process that optimizes collections performance.
