Notice to the Bar - Amicus Curiae Participation

The Court invites amicus curiae participation from those qualified and interested on pending appeals in Matter of Katonah-Lewisboro Free School District v New York State Department of Education and Matter of Mahopac Central School District v New York State Department of Education. The appeals involve the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 USC § 1400) and the state New York Education Law § 4402 (5).

2025 Annual Report

Law Day 2026

On Friday, May 1, 2026, the Court of Appeals celebrated Law Day.  Chief Judge Rowan D. Wilson, New York State Attorney General Letitia James and New York State Bar Association President Kathleen Sweet delivered remarks.  The Law Day Ceremony can be accessed here.

Notice to the Bar – 2027 Calendar of Sessions

The Court of Appeals has released its 2027 Calendar of Sessions. The schedule includes the appeal sessions as well as the Court’s conference days, which are scheduled for June 15 and December 14. May 18 is a special primary election appeals session day.

Petitions seeking to waive strict compliance of the Court’s Rules for the Admission of Attorneys and Counselors at Law (22 NYCRR 520.14) and for the Licensing of Legal Consultant (22 NYCRR 521.7) may now be submitted electronically, via a dedicated upload portal.
