About the author

Hi Readers! I'm a former carbs-addicted journalist and bestselling author of the books, Sugar Shock!, Beyond Sugar Shock, and I Blew My Diet! Now What? In my newest book, I vulnerably share how -- after more than a decade of eating cleanly, I overloaded on carbs. We're talking buckets of popcorn -- so much that I quickly packed on 21 pounds, developed insulin resistance, and felt ashamed. After all, as a health coach, life coach, and author, I'm supposed to know better. Didn't matter. Angrily and with determination, I dove into the research for seven years to discover: Why and when do so many of us eat so badly? What fast, easy, science-based tools can we use to take back our power and Bounce Back Boldly™? I'm now thrilled to share my findings to help you get back on track so you can lead a happier, healthier, wonderful life. Let me know what you think. I so appreciate your honest reviews, which can help other readers find my work. Please stay in touch!

It's an absolutely gem book in health category.
Reviewed in India on 11 May 2026Connie Bennett, former journalist, motivational speaker, and bestselling author of Sugar Shock! and Beyond Sugar Shock, presents a practical and compassionate 21-day plan to help readers lose weight, regain confidence, and rebuild a healthier relationship with food.
What makes this book stand out is its honest and realistic approach toward dieting and emotional eating. Bennett explains how many people begin their health journey with strong discipline and motivation, but often lose control when stress, emotions, or personal struggles arise. Instead of blaming a lack of willpower, she explores the deeper psychological and physical reasons behind binge eating and unhealthy food habits.
One of the most valuable insights in the book is the concept of the “blood sugar rollercoaster.” The author explains how processed and sugary foods cause rapid spikes and crashes in blood sugar levels, leading to cravings, mood swings, fatigue, and overeating. Over time, these patterns contribute to weight gain and metabolic issues.
The book also introduces the difference between “real carbs” and “unreal carbs.” Real carbs, such as vegetables and low-glycemic foods, nourish the body and stabilize energy levels, while refined and processed carbohydrates increase cravings and encourage unhealthy eating habits. This distinction makes the book practical and easy to apply in daily life.
Overall, this is an encouraging and insightful read for anyone struggling with emotional eating, weight gain, or repeated dieting failures. Bennett reminds readers that setbacks are not the end of the journey and that lasting health comes from understanding both the body and the mind.

Health can always begin again
Reviewed in India on 27 December 2025I Blew My Diet! Now What? sounds like a simple diet book at first, but while reading it,I realized it is more than a diet book. The book talks about how when we go through trauma, emotional pain, stress, or difficult phases in life, the first thing that usually gets affected is our health. Our eating habits change, our routine breaks, and slowly our body and mind both suffer.
The author then explains the common reasons why people blow their diets. These reasons feel very real and relatable, like emotional stress, lack of routine, and mental fatigue.
The book includes a clear 21 day plan that focuses on what to eat, how to think, and how to reset the mind along with the body. The plan is divided into three weeks, with daily routines that are easy to follow.
I also tried a few recipes mentioned in the book, and they worked well for me. I noticed positive changes, including gaining a few healthy kilos.

A BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN INFORMATIONAL READ
Reviewed in India on 3 February 2026✨Most people don’t eat wrong—they eat ignorantly. They follow random advice from TV shows and podcasts by people with zero health background and no research to back their claims. The irony? We trust loud opinions over real science and then wonder why our bodies are messed up.
✨But @conniebennettauthor cuts through all that noise. In I Blew My Diet, Now What?, she clears the confusion with practical, no nonsense guidance that’s actually grounded in real understanding and not hype. She opens up about her own experience of “Heartbreak Bingeing” turning to movie popcorn and “carbage” while grieving her mother even as a respected health expert. Her honesty about feeling like a “Health Hypocrite” after gaining weight during crisis instantly builds trust, making the book feel like a supportive conversation rather than a judgmental rulebook. Instead of shaming readers, Bennett shows empathy for those who self-medicate with food, especially during what she calls the “Big Four Binge Triggers”: grief, divorce, trauma, and caregiving.
✨The book ad ld its focus is on the why behind overeating, not just the behavior itself. Bennett explains how we live in a “Junk-Foods Jungle,” surrounded by ultra processed foods engineered with “bliss points” to keep us addicted. She also breaks down the “Blood Sugar Rollercoaster,” revealing how “cunning carbs” hijack mood and brain chemistry, trapping us in cycles of spike, crash, and scarf. This understanding helps readers replace shame with curiosity and clarity.
✨The book’s practicality shines through her FEASTS—Fast, Easy, Awesome, Simple, Tested Strategies which reduce reliance on willpower. Techniques like “Breathe, Yawn, Play” and the “Hug-Hum-Rock Relief Process” calm the nervous system and curb binges before they start.
✨Overall, Bennett’s message is clear and powerful. The “Bounce Back Diet” offers a gentle, sustainable KetoMod approach built on real, anti-inflammatory foods but the true transformation goes beyond weight loss. It’s about self-compassion, forgiveness, and rebuilding your relationship with yourself.

A kinder conversation about food.
Reviewed in India on 3 February 2026This book doesn’t begin with discipline. It begins with a confession.
And that already makes it feel different.
The book does not judge you or expect you to be perfect. Instead, it supports you at the moment when most diet books give up, after you slip, feel guilty, and think “I failed again.” This makes the book feel kind, understanding, and more human than most diet guides.
What stands out is the tone. The author doesn’t write like someone who has it all figured out. She writes like someone who has been there confused, frustrated, and tired of starting over. The focus is less on control and more on repair. Less on willpower, more on understanding why food becomes emotional territory in the first place.
The book gives a strong and clear message that falling off track is not failure, it’s clue. It is a clue to redirect and refine your path to reach your destination. The book gently shifts the question from “What did I do wrong?” to “What do I actually need right now?” That shift feels subtle, but it’s powerful.
This isn’t a book for people chasing quick results. It’s for people who are exhausted by extremes and quietly looking for kindness toward food, and toward themselves.
Overall, the book is like a personal honest guide that directs and redirects you to reach your health goal. It clearly bursts out myths and help you understand your body, your diet and the needful changes in a better way.

Dieting isn't a problem, Mo
Reviewed in India on 15 January 2026I'm blown away by Connie Bennett's "I Blew My Diet! Now What?" - a game-changer for anyone who's ever struggled with weight loss and felt stuck in guilt. Bennett's compassionate approach is refreshing, blending her personal struggles with sugar addiction and science-backed insights on emotional triggers. The 21-day FEASTS plan is straightforward and actionable, addressing both mind and body, and helping readers rebuild healthy habits without shame. I love how it emphasizes self-compassion, mindset shifts, and practical tools like the Hug-Hum-Rock process to curb cravings and boost oxytocin.

The book is divided into four parts, covering the problem, reasons, plan, and healthy eating. I've tried a few recipes, and they worked wonders for me - I even gained a few healthy kilos!

Humberto5 out of 5 starsA Compassionate, Practical Lifeline After a Diet Slip-Up
Reviewed in the United States on 25 February 2026Connie Bennett’s I Blew My Diet! Now What? feels like the understanding friend who’s been exactly where you are and refuses to judge. After more than a decade of living sugar-free and gluten-free, Bennett hit a devastating low—gaining 21 pounds while grieving her mother’s long battle with cancer. Instead of hiding the struggle, she turned it into seven years of honest research: why so many of us reach for junk when life hurts, what hidden triggers fuel mindless eating, and how to bounce back without shame or self-punishment.
The 21-day plan is refreshingly straightforward and kind—21 clear reasons diets derail, paired with FEASTS (Fast, Easy, Awesome, Simple, Tested Strategies) that actually fit real life. The modified ketogenic (KetoMod) meal ideas are delicious and blood-sugar-friendly without feeling restrictive, and the Hum-Hug-Rock Relief Process (boosting oxytocin through simple, science-backed moves) became my favorite tool for calming emotional storms. The cartoons by Isabella Bannerman add just the right light touch to keep things from feeling heavy.
What stayed with me most was the shift from “I’m broken” to “I’m human and capable.” Bennett doesn’t promise perfection; she offers tools to heal your heart while you heal your body. If you’ve ever fallen off the wagon and felt too ashamed to climb back on, this book meets you with empathy, evidence, and real hope. Warm, empowering, and genuinely life-changing.

Reviewed in Mexico on 27 March 2026I loved this book because it completely changes the way we think about “falling off track.” Instead of guilt or shame, Connie brings so much compassion and real understanding to why we overeat in the first place.
What really stood out to me is how practical and doable everything feels nothing extreme, just simple ways to reset and come back to yourself.
It’s not really about dieting… it’s about learning how to bounce back with awareness, kindness, and self-trust. And that shift is powerful.

Grady Harp5 out of 5 stars‘Bye-bye, cravings. Hello happier, healthier body and life!’ – A delightful weight control guide!
Reviewed in the United States on 9 May 2026California author, journalist, health/life coach, and Chief Empowerment Officer Connie Bennett has helped those of us with weight concerns with three excellent books - SUGAR SHOCK, BEYOND SUGAR SHOCK, and now I BLEW MY DIET! NOW WHAT? One of the many reasons Connie’s guidance works so well is her warmly humorous, reliably informed, and honest style of communication. On her various websites she describes herself as a ‘former depressed, junk-food addict-turned-Eat-Clean Evangelist, determined to help you yank back your power over wily junk foods.’
Because relating to this author helps in pledging to follow her recipe for a healthier life, a bit of her background is inviting: ‘My interest in health and wellness was ignited two decades ago when I was a sugar and carb addict besieged by a whopping 44 ailments. After seeing doctor after doctor, I finally found my M.D. hero (in 1998) who advised me to cut out sweets and carbs. Within weeks, ALL of my baffling symptoms vanished, and, not to sound trite, but I was reborn. Now I'm paying it forward by helping as many people as possible to use fast, easy, awesome, simple, tested strategies (FEASTS) to take back their power over carbage (carb garbage) and live a joyful, healthy, happy life.’
Fun to read and valuable in both heath philosophy and superb instructions for diet and all aspects of weight control, this book is a jewel. Wise, compassionate, and delivering results, for all friends who need body support, this is the book! Welcome to the Bounce Back Boldly Bootcamp. A must-read!
