Best Way to Shave
This blade is the best way to shave. I've used a straight-edge razor off and on for several years, and this particular pair are one of the best off-the-shelf pair i've tried to date. The Japanese steel blade is honed to an utter perfection; the wood handle has a great feel to it; the balance of the whole thing is just perfect when shaving. All in all this is one of the best razors I've used in quite a while. My wife also has shaved me with these and she likes how comfortable they feel. I've stropped it maybe twice and already they have a really good hone to the blade. That and the heft make shaving a pleasure. These work and feel as good as a razor costing many times more. As with any straight razor, please, please, please be very careful with this instrument. This is NOT a safety razor; make sure you have some knowledge and experience before using this razor.

    Shaved off my winter beard with a 50 cycle stopping the night before, and that was right after receiving it new in the box. Holds an edge and shaves well. Amazing for the price! Ofcourse, its all about maintaining that razor edge with propper stopping technique and sometimes honing (when necessary). I prefer a ceramic sharpener, smooth for fine edge sharpening. If this razor fits your budget better than others, it is very functional. I've been using it every one or two days for weeks now. Very happy with it!

    Pretty straight forward to use. Does have a bit of a learning curve but after some practice it’s as easy as a regular razor. It came pretty sharp out of the box and did well to line up my beard. For the price this razor is worth it. Just buy a leather strop to keep sharp.

    First time owning a straight razor. Cut my finger when I missed the sticker (warning label) on the blade and went back for it. My face? The razor just isn't good enough with facial hair compared to skin. I bought some sharpening stones (novice). Got a better shave, but still not even close to my dollar shave club disposables. I will try again to sharpen, but disagree that it is shave ready.

    I have to agree with some of the other reviews, while this razor is decent quality and seems to be well made it isn't shave ready ...believe me I tried...but after a light hone and a good stropping it's good to go!

    Comes Razor Sharp! (pun intended) but after stropping accidentally tapped one of my fingers with the edge of the razor and received a good cut.Takes a keen edge, really sharp.

    Straight razors certainly do have a learning curve but nothing matches them when it comes to shaving the right shape on my beard, and they havent dulled in the past hear I've had it.

    I purchased this razor after reading the reviews on about 10 different other razors. This was the best of the bunch. When I received it, I got the strop and ran the razor over it about 20 times. The next day I went to shave with it and nothing. All it did was remove the shaving cream. So I went back to my shavette with the blades. Every time I went into the bathroom I ran the razor over the strop. Day 3, same results. I think I am going to spend the money and purchase a higher quality razor and see what happens. But this one was a huge bust.

    While this is a good looking razor, the geometry was off. I am working on it to straighten the bevel out before sharpening it. But as it came in, it was not ready to shave with.

    Edit: after correcting the geometry of the razor spine, it holds a good edge and I shaved with it with great success.
