The setup is simple and the concept is great, place the button near the door and train your dog to press it when they need to go outside. The sound is clear and consistent, and the system feels durable enough for daily use, even with an energetic puppy learning the routine.

What’s been most impressive is how quickly the association can form. With consistent reinforcement, the puppy started showing interest in the bell early and is already beginning to use it as a communication tool, which helps reduce accidents and improves routine structure.

It does take repetition and patience, especially in the beginning, and not every dog will pick it up immediately. Placement and consistency in training are key for success.

I first purchased a different bell for my dog. We started with a physical bell that hung from the door which was not as effective for us hearing him ringing it. We then purchased a doorbell that did not click like this one and was touch activated but the sensor was not wide enough and my puppy could touch it but the bell wouldn't go off so we decided to give this one a try. Boy am I glad we did The fact that this one actually presses and clicks changes everything My puppy knows he has to push it until it clicks before he gets to go outside. This works fantastically The functionality is awesome. I think it's a little expensive compared to the others but the fact that it is more effective makes it worth it. It is super sticky once you place it you are not removing it unless you have a screwdriver. It's designed well and works awesome and the speed and ease of install took a whole 5 minutes. Highly recommend

Overall it’s a great product. Purchased this item March 2025. We replaced a doggy door with this item. Training was easy but it was a little difficult to get our fur baby to apply enough pressure for it to ring. She finally got the hang of it. The reason for 4-stars is because it stopped working a few days ago (11 months of use). However, for the price point it is worth purchasing and we are ordering another one.

I’ve had mine for THREE years! It’s still going strong. Hands down BEST thing I ever bought. I hide mine under the small rug at my patio doors. At first she’d step on it by accident, that was fine, at least I knew she was at the door. Now she stomps on it intentionally. It is nice & loud so you’ll hear it in any room of the house, yet it doesn’t wake a sleeping baby. She can finally get my attention even if I’m on an office call or doing laundry. I’ve never had it break or quit working and I have grandbabies that stomp on it for fun. I move mine so much (taking it away from a 2 year old lol) that it doesn’t stick permanently, but it doesn’t need to. Just toss it under your entry mat. Your dog will set it off just stepping near it. People can step on it, this thing is incredibly durable. I truly love it because my little dog has a little bladder and can’t wait until I notice she’s at the door. Now she knows she can get my attention immediately.

This has been such a helpful addition during potty training and made the whole process much more manageable. It is very easy to set up and my puppy caught on quicker than I expected. Having a clear way for them to signal when they need to go has really helped create a more consistent routine and reduced a lot of guesswork.

I also really like that it has different volume controls and alert sounds, so you can adjust it based on your home and what works best for your dog. That flexibility makes it more practical for everyday use, especially in different environments. It has been a simple but effective tool that makes communication with my puppy much easier.

Overall I'm very pleased with this product. Concur with many other reviews on ease of installation and setup, that is a breeze. One piece of feedback, I'd prefer most of the tone options be shorter and simpler. I don't need a 5 full second song to summon me to the door.

I had an unusual situation. My dog has always had full access to a permanent dog door. However, we adopted a new cat about a year ago who had always been an indoor cat. Unfortunately, after about 7 months he figured out dog doors also work for cats. The compromise ended up being the cat comes at dusk and this meant closing the dog door. This was quite upsetting to my Newfie who needs to be outside to cool off in the evenings but is too polite to scratch at the door or bark. So, I bought the bell, installed it, and showed her how to use it. She's a very bright dog so figured that was done and dusted. Not sure why, but it took her about 6 weeks to start pushing it when she wanted to come inside. Perhaps she wasn't pushing it hard enough? Once she did push it successfully, I praised and gave her high value treats. Now she uses it consistently to let me know when she wants to come inside. <end of main review>

An extended training note to those with clever dogs: Be super clear about what the bell means. I wanted my dog to know that ringing the bell would result is two things 1) I would always come and 2) open the door. After her first successful time ringing the bell to be let inside and getting treats and praise, I went to bed shutting the cat in the bedroom and opening the dog door back up. About half an hour later, she rang the bell on the indoor side of the door. I went out and she was very excited to see me, clearly expecting another treat for using the bell. I knew better than to create that monster, so just praised her, opened the door (she stayed inside) and went back to bed. The next morning a few hours after being fed she rang in the inside bell again. The dog door was open. Same situation, she was just testing what could happen by ringing the bell. I told her she was very smart, I would always come and open the door if she rang, but there would be no treats for random rings. :) That was three weeks ago. Last night she rang the bell in the middle of the night when the dog door was open. Keeping to our agreement, I went out and opened the door without a fuss. Though she weighs 140lbs she is sometimes not very sure of herself and I think she just wanted to check in with me. So I think it's important to be fair and consistent when training your dog to use this bell. Hope this story helps!

UPDATE 11/14/20: I'm so glad I got this bell. Perhaps because of her arthritis or maybe sometimes simply for a bit of attention, she is choosing to ask to come in by ringing the bell rather than use her dog door during the daytime when the dog door is open. It has been fascinating watching the stages of learning and experimentation with her and this bell.

I wish there was a battery backup system for the plug in receiver. I'd like to use this when traveling in my RV but I'm not always plugged into power. Also would be useful during power outages at home.

This was a great training tool. It stopped working several months after getting it. Completely no sound from either activator. Resyncing didn't work. Sucks to train your pets on something that stops working.

Have had these for years! They work great! If you can teach your dog to “touch” they can learn to use. They are loud enough to hear throughout the house. They are easy to install - have moved 3 times with them and they still work. I mount them with the included adhesive.

This is life-changing stuff, absolutely brilliant! Over the course of a weekend, our 10-week-old pup who would slip unnoticed to the door and have an accident when we failed to notice her quietly waiting in place is proud to "Touch" the doorbell to announce her need and desire to go outside, and when she's finished, come back in. There are great notes included in the install guide on training as well! The two sensors are perfect - one for inside - one for outside to signal coming back in. They work great - no issues transmitting from out in the Alberta cold. A ton of ringtones, but only if you like the sing-song musical doorbells that drive most people to disconnect them permanently. There is one bell-tone option, but it gets the job done! The touch sensor is fairly sensitive - good for somewhat tentative nose-taps, but nothing that will be constantly activated accidentally. If in doubt, buy it!

Great in theory and easy to set up and there’s different sounds and volumes to choose from but ended up not working for my dog. Perhaps if we kept trying it would have but she didn’t get it. I’m giving it 4 stars because although it didn’t work for my dog and us, it probably would have if we kept trying so I would still recommend to give it a try.

I should have put it on the floor or lower on the door so my pup can boop it with her nose or just paw at the floor. The training went good and now she just rings to go potty! Works great it’s loud and can adjust volume levels and sounds!

Easy to install. Great volume and sound options. Nice that it doesn't require a battery but my dog could not activate it unless I put food on it. After two weeks I got a different one, but have someone to give this one to, with a bigger dog.
