This is my fifth humidifier review here on Amazon and it's maybe the funniest. Not the review, but the situation around using this humidifier. Lets get one thing out of the way, there's no way this humidifier can run for 100 hours on one tank of water. I've used it for 7 straight days/nights and had to refill each day. It will get roughly 24 hours on one full tank of water, running on medium for those 24 hours. It would be an understatement to say I've been frustrated with humidifiers. They're either too frustrating to clean or they don't put out enough mist or they have some kind of fan that blows the mist over my bed while I sleep. Believe it or not, I liked this one and wanted to try it based on the fact that the company has accessories for it. I don't like buying extra parts for anything, but with all my humidifier problems, it's nice to see a company making efforts to fix problem areas in their products.

So, what was so funny? I either hook up a new humidifier in our kitchen or bathroom and let it run for a little while before trying it in our bedroom. I filled the tank up on this one, turned the one knob to "cool", turned the mist control knob up about halfway and nothing happened. I had just returned a Vornado that misted whenever it decided it wanted to or whenever I pushed it. So I pushed this one. No mist. I left the room and left it running. I go back 10 minutes later and it looks like someone is having a misting convention in our bathroom. There was lots of mist coming out. I immediately turned it off and back on to see if it was going to be one of those frustrating humidifiers that are inconsistent in their misting. It wasn't. The mist started right up. I then, for fun, turned the mist all the way up and I was surprised over how much mist came out.

I rated this a 5 star, but it's not without its faults. I agree with everyone who says there isn't any warm mist coming out of the humidifier. I tried it three times, the unit acts like it's switching as it pauses when you turn the knob from cool to warm, but it doesn't feel any different. This doesn't bother me. I couldn't imagine using warm mist. I'm one of those people who sleeps with a ceiling fan on all year, only use one blanket all year, so the cool mist is the only feature I am interested in, but it should be mentioned that I also don't feel warm mist coming out of this humidifier.

There's another part that should be mentioned. This humidifier is harder to fill than the others I've reviewed. The tank is awkward if you're used to any other type of humidifier. Filling it is easy and the valve to close it, closes very tight. Maybe it's the orientation of the tank though that causes a few problems. I fill ours in the bathroom. The bathroom is about 20 ft from our bedroom. I drip water taking the tank to the bathroom and back to the bedroom. I've added a hand towel near it to stop this problem. I wouldn't think this humidifier would be easy for say a kid, an elderly person to fill and refill.

That's probably enough cons to question why I would rate it 5 stars. It works. The spout the mist comes out of has two spouts. You could send mist to the right of the humidifier and to the left. I personally turn both towards our bed. This is the first humidifier I have tried that sends mist to both my wife and I. She's always complained about me using the humidifier and blocking the mist from her. This one puts out enough mist that it reaches both of us. Cleaning is pretty standard, but they've made one part easier. The plunger that releases the water from the tank has a square plastic housing around it instead of round. This gives me enough room to get a toothbrush in there to clean it instead of trying to come up with a way to clean the smaller round housing on most humidifiers. The tube in the middle that the water goes into to create the mist is also easily accessible and can be cleaned with a dish-type brush or if you're in a bind, stick a washcloth in it and swab it back and forth.

While I do use humidifiers to keep the air in our house moist, it's also relaxing for me to feel the cool mist blowing on my face while I sleep. This one does that better than any I've used. It also has a few features others may like. It has a light you can turn on. It's fairly bright too. I could see that being used in a kid's room or baby nursery as a night light. There's also a red light on it for when it runs out of water. Both are nice features that I see customers posting questions about.

The best part, at least for my wife, it's the quietest humidifier I've used. You will hear a soft gurgle maybe two to three times an hour and it's only for a few seconds. I also rated an Optimus humidifier a 5 star and still think it is. It's just I believe this one is better overall. Most of these extra features won't be used by me, but my only real concerns are cleaning and how much mist is put out. This one is the best are those two of all the humidifiers I've reviewed. On a side note, I'm now curious about their smaller one that's half the price of this one. If those problems, the weight of the filled tank, the awkwardness of carrying the tank, the no warm mist problem are major problems for you then you might look at that smaller one by this company or check out the Honeywell or Optimus I reviewed. Both of those perform well and have similar strengths to this one they just don't put out as much mist as this one. If you try one of these be sure to give it time to get the mist going on the first use. I was ready to pack it up and ship it back until the mist started coming out.

I bought the PureGuardian 100 Hour humidifier in January 2015 after doing quite a bit of research on Amazon. I specifically was looking for something low maintenance (no wicks, filters, constant refilling or cleaning) and to help with congestion issues. I also used it in my baby's bedroom after being disappointed with the reviews for kids humidifers.

Pros:

- Compact unit with easy to use knobs. Low center of gravity and can be placed out of the way.

- Nightlight option

- Noise - it makes a low level of noise (like white noise) but isn't a disturbing amount

- Doesn't leak on the wood floor. I was worried about the white dust other reviewers mentioned but did not have this problem at all (and used tap water vs distilled water).

- Longevity - I bought this in January and it's still working without any issues

- Length of time - If I have it running on a low setting on cool mist, it can run for 3 nights or so without refilling. I have noticed if I have it on the warm mist setting, it seems to run out of water faster.

- Being able to control the level of humidity. Unlike our furnace humidifier, you can finely tune the amount of humidity so it doesn't warp wood if you have an older home.

Cons:

- A pain to fill! You need to turn the blue portion of the unit upside down to fill it up with water and it gets awkward to hold while it's filling up. I wish it had a water opening in the top of the unit so you didn't have to turn it upside down, fill it, then flip it when you put it back in the base. That being said, I'm not filling it up every day which helps.

I highly recommend this humidifier and have been extremely pleased with how well it's worked and lasted so far.

I have looked high and low for a warm mist humidifer that doesn't have a lot of light from it; if I wanted a night light I'd buy one. I'm a light sleeper and like it very dark; I use electrical tape on even "power" lights in my bedroom. This one does well in that department; the nightlight can turn off, and the small power light is not bright and is easily covered. My only complaint is that it doesn't really do "warm." There is so little difference between cool and warm settings on this that I would not consider it a warm mist humidifier at all. It really doesn't heat the water even slightly. Someone else said theirs started warming after a few hour's use, but mine has not over a week's nighttime use. I have an old cut on my nose that goes away in summer, but gets irritated and red every winter, and after trying every lotion and cream there is, I discovered that a few nights with a warm mist humidifier beside my bed makes the problem disappear. A cool mist makes almost no difference at all; I don't know what that is. In any case, this one, set on warm, helps but very little. It's cute, easy to fill, runs well, and they don't force the light on you....but if you are looking for warm mist, you might want to keep looking. If cool or room temp mist works for you, this is a great little unit.

This is a fantastic humidifier. I've owned a number of humidifiers over the years and this is the best one yet. I bought this to put in my son's room as he has been getting bloody noses and it has completely done the trick. In the winter this thing is going every night for 4 months as it also helps with his breathing. It's extremely quiet and I like the fact that I don't have to buy any filters or replacement wicks. The tank is low profile so I have no problem filling it in the bathroom sink versus having to use the tub spout like I had to do on some of my other humidifiers. The night light is a great feature for kids and it produces just enough light without being too bright. It has an adjustable mist dial so you can control the amount of mist, mine is usually cranked on high but I like the option of being able to adjust it. It also has an option of doing cool mist or warm mist which a lot of units don't have. Last but not least it comes with a cool little cleaning brush that stores on the underside of the tank, it's perfect to get into the tiny little crevices to keep this clean. It arrived in perfect condition via Amazon prime and was easy to open with minimal packing materials to dispose of.

Works great, just make sure you unplug and empty all the water from the bottom housing before placing to top part back into place. Hope this last as long as my first one (5 yrs).

This works well and was easy to set up and use but though it says no filters needed I found brownish build up inside the 3rd time I went to clean and refill. Difficult to get to some of the parts to get that off. And also started to smell musty after about 3 weeks of using even tho cleaned and refilled every 3-4 days. Other comment: Once top is filled with water it's a little heavy so someone who doesn't have much arm strength might have issues turning it over and putting it on the bottom section. On the plus side: It does work well, is not overly noisy and is easy to use.

Best humidifier I’ve ever had. I’ve had this for three or four weeks now and haven’t had one problem with it. And I run it all night long. I’m not concerned too much about the water running out in about three nights I just want get to keep working. I have read a lot of reviews where people have had many problems with this unit. So far so good. I especially love the warm air setting. I have also read that it does not feel warm but believe me in a 12 x 12 bedroom with the door shut it feels very warm. I have to keep it on the lowest volume because the output is huge and I suppose that is why you cannot run it for 00 hours. I don’t care if I have to put water in it every other day. I love it. And I love the Pure Guardian brand. This is my second purchase of pure guardian and I also bought my brother one. I love this thing. Now if it breaks down anytime soon I will let you know. But so far it’s worked perfect.

Well I didn't think it was going to work when I first turned it on today but I left it on and it seems to be working out its problems. Might have to run it every season to keep it going. At first the mist was barely there but it seems to be increasing as the minutes tick by.

The PureGuardian 9.6L humidifier does not run for 100 hours with one filling. On my 1st use, I filled it to the top with purified water and selected the very lowest setting possible using the cool mode. I wrote down the exact time I turned it on & monitored when it stopped. Based on their claim of running for up to 100 hours, I expected it to last about 4 days before I had to refill the tank again. Unfortunetly, about 23.5 hrs later, the light came on & the unit stopped. The 2nd time I tried it, it lasted 28 hrs before turning off. Final time I tried it, the water ran out & it stopped after 26 hrs. Since I like to leave my humidifier on 24/7 (even when I'm not home), I need one that lasts longer because it's too much trouble to be changing that water every day. Two good things I will say about it is that it's very quiet, I had to get close to look at the mist coming out in order to make sure it was on because it was so quiet. Also, there was no mold or slimy feeling when I emptied it out so the silver technology must be working to prevent the growth of bacteria on the inner surface of the water tank.

Item Reviewed - PureGuardian H1510 Ultrasonic Warm and Cool Mist Humidifier.

I first discovered these humidifiers 10 - 15 years ago.

When PureGuardian sent me one as a replacement for a similar model that had quit working.

That original one, that I got back then, is still working as well as it did when new.

This is now the 3rd one that I own. They are really meant to be a room sized humidifier not for a large house.

Although I do find that most of the time, running just the one in our living room, along with the built in one on my furnace is enough to keep the house between 40 - 50% relative humidity.

Its nice to have another one that can be setup in a bedroom especially when someone gets sick.

The 3rd one I use for my grow tent (which is in my garage were the air is usually very dry)

I only use it when starting plants for my garden it keeps the baby plants from drying out too quickly.

These humidifiers get a lot of use in my house.

I like that there are no filters or anything to mess with.

The water tanks are embedded with silver to inhibit Microbial Growth.

I find if I run them till the tank gets empty and fill them with fresh water from my reverse osmosis system they do stay clean for a long time.

When I am not using them I make sure that they are empty and dry.

Excellent Product, would highly recommend.

This is the 2nd one that I buy. The first one ran for almost non-stop for several years before it stop working. This is a 'mister', not a straight humidifier. I run it using an electronic humidistat to keep my guitar room at a constant humidity level. With the door of the room closed it does not need to run constantly, therefore the tank lasts a couple of weeks before needing a refill. It is quiet.

Bought to replace older ( 6 years) same model would buy again its a 5 out of 5 for me

It says it runs for 150 hours but is more like 24, which is fine. But don't say it runs for so long when it's only a day. Otherwise great device, easy to change the water and it's nice and silent. I use it everyday and noticed a difference when I turned it off for two days. Awesome.
