This lasts a long time but thought I'd share with someone. It's great tasting and doesn't turn white icing yellow because it's clear.

I use this for my sugar cookie business. It’s definitely a fan favorite and tastes so much better than all the other clear vanilla extracts I’ve used. One thing to note is that adding too much gives an almost cinnamon taste.

This is the only vanilla I will use, the flavor os unmatched. Definitely give it a try, especially for deserts that you want to be crisp white without the brown vanilla changing the color

Hands down the most disgusting clear vanilla ever made. I needed it for a wedding cake. The stuff I usually use wasn’t available last minute. I made one batch of frosting. It smelled like an unnatural substance…chemicals. It tasted worse. I threw both the vanilla and frosting right in the garbage where it belonged.

Compared to US name brand (or even off brand) REAL vanilla extracts, this is STUPID cheap. I've been using this for decades. Literally. Like as in, when you could bring it back across the border from Mexico in reused tequila bottles, at $1.00 U.S. per! Obviously it's increased in price over that span of time, but still far more than worth it. For 30 years, people have raved about my chocolate chip cookies and asked, "What did you do?" The secret(s)? 1) Use shortening, not butter (and DEFINITELY don't use margarine >,< ); it keeps the cookie from thinning out too much and gives a cookie with more body to it. 2) Refrigerate the dough before cooking and in between batches; cold dough doesn't thin out as much or as quickly either. 3) Quit cooking (take them out of the oven) sooner than you think; they will continue to "cook" after you take them out of the oven as the temperature falls toward room temp. And 4) USE MEXICAN VANILLA!! There really is no substitute. And it doesn't matter how much or what brand of U.S. brand vanillas you might try, you will never get the wonderful "presence" of the vanilla flavor that you will with this. Clear or dark doesn't seem to have any effect on the flavor, but I prefer the clear because in some recipes that need to remain white (such as white cakes) the dark will yellow the end product. Buy it, use it, serve the baked goods to your friends, and enjoy their amazement, admiration, and constant requests for your secret. ;-)

I was hesitant because of the reviews, but I think it's just because people mistake this for the vanilla you get in the US and Europe.

It has a slightly sweeter taste and smell, but we love this in everything we would usually use vanilla for. Makes your baking taste just a little better and different so no one can make your recipes the same as you do 😜

It also works great to flavor white frosting made with crisco - keeps it white as white instead of tinting it yellow

I like to use clear vanilla when decorating my cookies. It keep the white white. The flavour is not as strong as the dark vanilla but I just use a little extra. You get a very large amount. It lasts a long time.

I had purchased a dark Mexican vanilla once, and it was deep, rich, and caramel. Absolutely wonderful. So I had high hopes when I purchased this clear Mexican vanilla. I figured, worst-case scenario, it will taste like normal vanilla. (I have purchased store-bought vanilla here in Montreal, and it tasted EXACTLY like dark vanilla).

So, imagine my surprise when I tried this one. This vanilla tastes nothing like vanilla, of any sort. Some reviewers have compared it to watered-down vanilla; I would GLADLY accept that at this point if that was the only complaint. However, it doesn't smell or taste of the type of North American vanilla product I have ever tried (including the Madagascar version). My daughter compares it to a weird cardboard taste. I agree. And that is the bits of flavor that actually come out.

In summary: Watered down, non-vanilla taste. I can only assume that anyone who has reviewed this and felt otherwise has been sent something vastly different from what I got.

$60 down the drain. Oh well, live and learn.

Just so happy it came and it’s the quality I am used to with this brand.
