Privacy Settings

These Privacy Settings reflect your choices about how Kobo may track and use your data, activity, and preferences to help make Kobo Services more useful to you.

We, along with our third-party service providers or business partners, use cookies, web development tools, and similar tracking technologies (collectively, the “Tracking Technologies”) to automatically collect information that might relate to you, your activity and preferences, or your device over time and across different websites or online services to make the site and services work as you expect, to analyze and improve the performance of our site, and to provide you with a more personalized site experience or personalized advertisements for our products or services. Visit our Cookie and Tracking Technologies Policy to learn more about how data is collected via cookies and other Tracking Technologies.

You can review the different categories of Tracking Technologies below and change the default settings according to your preferences. You can choose to toggle ON (tracking enabled) or OFF (tracking disabled) certain types of Tracking Technologies, which may impact your experience on the site and the services we are able to offer to you, or the types of ads you see. Note that you cannot turn off Essential Tracking Technologies, as these are deployed to ensure the proper functioning of our site and services.

For each Tracking Technology category, you can access a drop-down menu noted as “Open Preferences” to view details of the individual Tracking Technologies, the third parties that provide them and their policies and practices as, in some instances, you may opt-out of certain of their activities directly. We provide these details as a courtesy for all users independent of any rights you may have related to the use of Tracking Technologies. We will update the details periodically, however we do not warrant that they will be up-to-date, or the linked third-party information will be up to date, when you view it. We are not responsible for third-party sites and their privacy practices as they relate to any opt-outs from tracking activities that may exist on such sites.

Please note that you must be logged in to your Kobo Account to save and apply the Privacy Settings you elect below for your next visit to Kobo.com. Default settings, based on applicable local law, will apply to site visitors who are not logged in on a subsequent visit.

Subject to local law, you may have certain rights regarding personal information that we or third parties collect from Tracking Technologies. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information about your privacy rights.

Third-Party Advertising and Social Media - [Class D]:

Third-Party Advertising and Social Media - [Class D]:

Kobo enables third-party Tracking Technologies and email address matching by our advertising partners and social media sites so these companies can target Kobo advertisements to you on third-party sites or apps on our behalf and so that you can connect to your friends and social networks and share content from our website through social media.

This means that Tracking Technologies are set by third parties through the Kobo site and Kobo may additionally disclose your email address to third parties to create marketing lists for personalizing Kobo’s advertisements. You acknowledge that the third parties listed below may receive your personal information as detailed in our Privacy Policy when the toggle is set to “On” (tracking enabled).

If you do not allow this tracking or the use of your email for custom marketing, advertisements will not be tailored to your interests, and you may not be able to see or use social media sharing tools on the site. Please note that if you disable this tracking, you will still see advertisements on these other platforms or our platform; they just won't be tailored to your interests.
