    Smooth sailing ahead 🛳️🌊 Yesterday, Legend of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in the world, was officially handed over to Royal Caribbean Group. A ceremony marking the completion of this remarkable vessel took place at Meyer Turku Shipyard in Turku, Finland. Cruise ships are essentially floating cities. With thousands of passengers and crew moving across their decks every day, ensuring smooth people flow is essential.  At 365 meters long and accommodating around 7,000 passengers, this ship is a true engineering marvel. The 43 KONE elevators and four escalators on board are tailored to the demanding needs of the marine environment, ensuring effortless movement throughout the ship. Our space- and energy-saving systems have proven performance in thousands of installations – even in the toughest conditions.     Introducing VAELLA, KONE’s first spin-out company!    VAELLA will operate as an independent company, developing and marketing technology based on KONE’s Station Twin. At its core, it is a digital 3D replica of a location, such as a metro station, with sensors providing real-time data about people’s movement. The system warns of potential overcrowding hazards and informs of any malfunctions in the elevators and escalators. Potential locations for this technology include transport hubs, airports, stadiums, and large commercial buildings.    “The way VAELLA has been designed to work reinforces KONE’s purpose to shape the future of cities. By giving this innovation its own structure, we can solve our customers’ most pressing challenges directly, with breakthrough solutions,” says Amy Chen, Chief Innovation Officer at KONE.    This spin-out marks an important step in accelerating innovation and exploring new ways to scale promising solutions, together with external partners and funding.     One step closer – our Extraordinary General Meeting approved all proposed resolutions in relation to the TK Elevator transaction. Today marks an important achievement for the combination of KONE and TK Elevator to form a world-class company in the elevator and escalator industry. Key decisions by the meeting: ➡️Our shareholders approved the authorization to issue new class B shares. The deal structure combines cash (5B €) and shares (up to 270M new shares). ➡️As proposed, the General Meeting also resolved to increase the number of members of the Board of Directors of KONE from eight (8) to ten (10) and elected Ranjan Sen and Bruno Schick as new members of the Board of Directors. This shareholder approval was the first milestone in the transaction process which will now continue with regulatory review period. Until then, KONE and TKE will continue to operate independently as two separate companies, just as we do today.
