An "observant" artist. My work has been interpreted in a variety of media, from film to music to tattoos—not to mention the more traditional book covers and fan art—but Ms. Belugina's pieces reflect an attention to subtle details that most others never pick up on. The tint of an iris, the line of a jaw, the subtle peripheral vasodilation of a predator in hunting mode: little things that may not seem important, that barely rated a phrase or a sentence of prose, but which somehow change the balance and the feel of an illustration. Even her minimalist, impressionistic stuff—a body built from a few brush strokes, a horizon that's barely a dark line—really leaves an impact.
I'm always interested to see what she comes up with next.
