To preface, I had a lot of hype for this film. Director Daniel Goldhaber made one of my favorite movies, the delightful Cam (2018), and his eye for visuals remains awe-inspiring. I’m glad to say that same visual confidence applies here as well. Instead of neon pink cam-site imagery, we’re treated to TikTok doomscrolling interfaces, digital decay, and some striking red visuals.

Once the trippy funky opening sequence began.. I knew I’d love this. The theme song ‘Foxy Brown’ created by composer Willie Hutch is an instant banger.
The multiple outfits, sets, shootouts and fight sequences are all top notch. I love seeing Pam Grier kick ass and beat up men, I’ve come to realize. Jack Hill can perfectly balance satire, social commentary, humor, action and sleaze.

Final rewatch for a while but, again, perfect movie of the year.
i still desperately want to understand the writing process behind the characters’ decisions in this godforsaken film. I’m just thankful Alien: Romulus (2024) moved on from Fassbender’s incredibly boring android story arc. Also, Katherine Waterston you are no Ellen Ripley.
Mia Goth, Brittany Snow and Jenna Ortega.. a dream cast. Ti’s recreation of the 70s is beautifully shot and well-rounded. Kid Cudi was definitely one of the film’s highlights. While I do think the kills were great, I did feel a lack of connection between them. Regardless, this is another amazing slasher film and I’m excited for it’s prequel!
