Every week HTAR creates a social media post for all the pets that have been adopted the prior week.  Our program is so vast it can sometimes be hard to get those photos.  Please use this form below to help make sharing those moments with us easier!

Foster Support Contacts & Procedures

Supplies: adoptioncenter@homewardtrails.org (pick up or arrange delivery, confirm before heading)

Medical Concerns: AC or medical@homewardtrails.org (vet visits require approval)

Medical Emergency: Contact AC/Medical Liaison after hours (proceed to nearest ER vet, they'll guide next steps)

Vaccines/Preventatives: Schedule with AC or Adoption Center/nearby volunteer (stay on schedule to protect your foster)

Adoption Events: Sign up via Google Sheets link (confirm with AC first, vaccine requirements apply)

Leaving Town: Contact AC for foster dog relocation

Adopting your Foster: Discuss with AC ASAP (don't mislead applicants about availability)

Lost Dog: Contact AC & local Animal Control immediately (team will provide next steps & recovery documents)

Get Your Foster Dog Adopted!

Check the adoption events spreadsheet for upcoming events at the adoption center or offsite and sign up to attend with your foster dog or a different volunteer role.

Event Requirements:

Puppies under 4 months: 2nd DHPP vaccine at least 10 days prior
Dogs over 4 months: 1 DHLPP and Rabies vaccine
Dogs must have a handler and be comfortable around strangers and other dogs
Properly fitted harness or martingale required

Volunteer Opportunities:

Foster Dogs: Bring your dog and show off their best qualities!
Transporters and Handlers: Transport dogs to/from events and interact with adopters
Adoption Counselor/Screener: Onsite or phone support
Event Coordinator: Set up, greet adopters, and transport supplies
Photographer: Capture photos of adoptable dogs

Events for your Foster Dog! 

Homeward Trails Puppy Party Protocols 

HT regularly engages our foster puppies to attend puppy parties. Parties are held at private homes or corporations for a one-hour period. They are not intended as adoption events (so puppies of age that are already spoken for can still attend), but rather they raise funds for our medical fund and serve to bring happiness to party hosts and attendees. These parties raise over $30,000 annually to help save our sick and injured animals. :)

Party Requirements
Puppies must be healthy and 5 weeks of age minimum to attend
We guarantee a minimum of 2 puppies, but like to send as many as possible.
We do not send puppies from separate litters
No other animals are present at these parties so vaccine status is not a requirement.
We secure volunteers to pick the pups up from the fosters, remain on-site at the party and return the pups to the foster.
All puppy fosters must have a puppy pen in their possession that will go to the party with the pups
