An impressive work and enjoyable to read
Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2025I don't know who the author is, Ian Long, but he clearly knows some stuff. In fact, a LOT of stuff, except apparently how to make a Table of Contents for a Kindle book. But that turned out to be a good thing as I ended up reading the whole thing.
The author presents the subject in straightforward, logical steps. It is well thought out, and there isn't a lot of fluff.
But the author does have a fun style and a good sense of humor.
I picked this up because I literally wanted to learn about manufacturing opportunities on the moon, and the book really helped out. It's not a be-all-end-all reference, but it doesn't pretend to be either.
I highly recommend this, I hope the author writes more books soon.
Thanks!

Excellent Science Communication
Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2024I consider myself well versed in aerospace and space flight and I really think that no matter what level of knowledge I had, I would have still loved this book. Ian does such a good job explaining each topic in an entertaining way without sacrificing any of the real science or engineering behind it. It is a truly impressive work and I would continue buying this book over and over if he continues to update it in future editions.

Up to date, detailed and nuanced
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2023This book covers a level of detail that I haven’t heard addressed anywhere else while still managing to be entertaining to read. It’s up to date with new research and covers why many of the commonly discussed solutions to various problems humanity will face on the lunar surface are impractical—and what we should do instead.
Most importantly, the author makes the case that going to and colonizing the moon is economically beneficial and essential to the long term survival and wellbeing of our species and all life on earth.

A superbly written and yet digestible book for space enthusiast and general audiences alike.
Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2024The book lays out step by step what the title conveys in an informative and yet often times humorist way. That isn't bogged down by scientific jargon but is still written in a manner that academics and space experts would still find compelling.
