Behind the work
Ellie Day Studio creates print-led worlds for fashion and lifestyle brands — where art, history, and femininity are translated into modern surface design. Each collection begins with story and is crafted to feel expressive, considered, and timeless, whether licensed as-is or developed in close collaboration.

Welcome to the Blog
This is my little corner of the internet where I get to just… talk.
You'll find musings on print trends, peeks behind the collections, things that are inspiring me, things that are annoying me, and yes — the occasional bad selfie. Consider this the unfiltered side of Ellie Day Studio. The part that doesn't make it onto the portfolio page.
I've been obsessed with pattern, color, and the stories that live inside both for as long as I can remember. This blog is where that obsession gets to breathe a little. Some posts will be about the work. Some will be about what's influencing the work. Some will just be me rambling about a fabric I saw at a market or a sunset that made me want to paint everything orange.
If you're an art director, a fellow designer, or just someone who loves beautiful things — pull up a chair and scroll on down. It's casual here.

Why Blurred Florals Hit Different When They Start by Hand
Blurred florals are trending everywhere — but the ones in Electric Wildflower started as actual paintings. A look inside a process that blends traditional artistry with digital design.
Electric Wildflower Was Born at Coachella (Kind Of)
There's a feeling that only happens at a summer festival. The sun goes down, the music gets louder, and everything goes electric. That feeling is exactly where this collection was born.
One Print. Three Markets. Lace Lives Everywhere
Lace is moving — through runways, interiors, and the space in between. Papyrus Lace from the Nile Reverie collection lives in all three markets at once. One print. Three colorways. Endless possibility.
The Animal Print that Isn’t
Animal print is having a quiet moment — less literal, more elemental. More grown than designed. It's a direction I find endlessly interesting, and honestly, one my work has been living in for a while.
This month I'm watching it closely.
The Color Story of Nile Reverie
"This palette didn't come from a trend report. It came from temple interiors, oxidized copper, and lotus ponds at dawn….and then edited to a bolder vibe. The color story behind Nile Reverie — in three chapters." 🌸
The Making of Nile Reverie
"Every collection starts the same way — research spread across my desk and a blank piece of paper. This one reached back about 3,000 years. A look inside the craft process behind Nile Reverie — from motif sketching to watercolor, Procreate, and vector texture building."
The Long Way Back To Print
A personal reflection on fashion, print, and the long road back to the work that always felt essential.
Return to the Studio
A reflection on returning to the studio—reconnecting with hand painting, refining technical skills, and grounding surface pattern design in craft, history, and process.
Wilderkind and the Nefertiti Garden
Inspired by the Wilderkind aesthetic emerging across art and design, Nile Reverie explores a feminine narrative rooted in nature, mythology, and strength. Botanical motifs feel expressive rather than ornamental—evoking a cultivated yet untamed garden shaped by history, symbolism, and bold modern color.
