One of our top Foremen - who has been with Groundcover Landscaping for more than ten years - is heading overseas to further his career. We’re incredibly proud of him, but it does leave some very big boots to fill.

This is a key on-site, on the tools, leadership role within our business.

❌ This is not an entry-level role.

❌ It’s not a “step up and see how you go” position.

❌ And it’s not for someone who’s still figuring out if landscaping is for them.


We’re looking for an experienced Landscaping Foreman with a minimum of 2 years’ proven experience as a Leading Hand or Foreman, confidently managing staff and running projects from start to finish.


We specialise in high-end residential landscaping across the Waikato. Our clients expect professionalism, quality workmanship, and strong communication. So do we.

Here’s what we need from you:

Proven work history in a landscaping role with experience in most of the following:

  • Decking
  • Fences
  • Retaining walls
  • Paving
  • Excavation and base preparation
  • Planting and plant knowledge
  • Concreting skills and digger operating would be great but not imperative

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Running projects from start to finish
  • Managing timelines, materials and site coordination
  • Maintaining site safety and quality standards
  • Leading by example and setting the tone on-site
  • Representing our company professionally at all times

You also need:

  • A hardworking, reliable, can-do attitude
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Leading Hand or Foreman
  • roven ability to lead and manage a team on-site
  • Strong understanding of landscape construction processes
  • Ability to read and interpret plans accurately
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Strong communication skills (clients, suppliers and crew)
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • The right to work in New Zealand
Experienced Landscape Gardener - Full Time

We are after an experienced landscape gardener for our well-established Landscaping and Garden Maintenance business.

Groundcover Landscaping has been creating amazing outdoor spaces for the people of the Waikato for 20 years. We have a large team of landscapers and gardeners, so with this role you will be responsible for the ongoing care and maintenance of newly created, or already established gardens. You will liaise with clients, deliver a fantastic service, and go home at night feeling proud and valued. We work on residential and commercial sites and creating lasting relationships with our great clients is very important to us.

We have a great culture at Groundcover Landscaping, and we love to make hard work fun!

Here’s what we need from you:

Proven work history in a gardening and maintenance role with experience in the following:

  • Level 3-4 Horticulture qualification or relevant experience essential
  • Standard pruning and shaping
  • Light pruning for fruit and ornamental trees
  • Spraying and weeding
  • Pest and disease identification and control
  • Planting, mulching and staking
  • Hedge trimming
  • Plant knowledge and identification

You also need:

  • To have a clean full NZ Driver’s license (manual preferable)
  • To be able to work unsupervised at times
  • To be honest and trustworthy
  • To take pride in your work and go the extra mile to make sure the job is top notch
  • Great people skills both with fellow workmates and customers
  • References

The following would be an advantage but not imperative:

  • Turf care
  • Irrigation installation and repairs
