ICYMI: One million customer trips. And counting. Less than a year after launch, NextGen Acela has officially reached a major milestone on America’s only high-speed rail service. This milestone is just one more step forward in Amtrak’s New Era of Rail.

Philadelphia’s skyline has a new addition on the way: Amtrak’s 110,000-square-foot maintenance facility at Penn Coach Yard, one of six major yard upgrades Amtrak’s making nationwide to service our next generation of trains. When completed in 2027, the facility will be used for daily inspections, servicing, cleaning, and heavy repairs primarily for our Airo and NextGen Acela trains. The future of rail has left the factory and it’s painted ❤️ 🤍 & 💙.   The new Airo trainset has officially departed Siemens’ Sacramento facility. After years of planning, design, and manufacturing, this moment brings the next chapter of Northeast Regional travel one step closer.   These trains will elevate the experience along the busiest rail corridor in the country: from modern interiors and improved accessibility to a more comfortable and consistent travel experience.   Now headed to Pueblo, CO for testing, revenue service is expected to commence in 2027.   As the Airo trainset begins its journey toward service on the Northeast Corridor, it’s a proud milestone for everyone who helped bring this vision to life.
