To report a FIRE call the Secaucus Police Department – the fire emergency number is (201) 867-8000. State Mandated 911 service is also available. For the quickest, most reliable fire response, however, we encourage all residents to program the fire emergency number into your speed dialer, should there be a problem with the 911 system.
Our StoryThe Secaucus Fire Department was formed in 1891. The 1st company was Washington Hook & Ladder. Located at 272 Country & Lincoln Avenue, one ladder truck, one engine, one tanker and two marine units are housed at this location.
The 2nd company, Engine Company #1, was formed in 1900. Located at 150 Plaza Centre Road, one engine, one squad and one marine unit are housed at this location. The 3rd company, Hose Company #2, was formed in 1907. Located at 746 7th Street, one tower ladder is housed at this location. The 4th company, Hose Company #1/Engine 2, Rescue, Marine Rescue, was formed in 1911. Located at 1561 Paterson Plank Road, one rescue truck, one engine and one marine unit are housed at this location. The 5th company, Engine Company #3, was formed in 1922. Located at 146 Centre, one engine is housed at this location. |
Training

All members of the Secaucus Fire Department must attend a State Certified Fire Academy and complete the Firefighter I Course. All active members of the department also attend continuing education courses, including Firefighting Safety, Firefighter II, CPR, and Fire Incident Command. Department members continue to attend in-house training to expand their knowledge and keep abreast of new trends. Team members, who are Certified State Instructors, train all other members.

The Secaucus Fire Department is looking for dedicated volunteers ages 16 and older who are residents of Secaucus.
Since 1891, we have proudly operated as a 100% volunteer fire department — from the Chief of Department down to our newest recruit. No experience is necessary. We provide training, equipment, and opportunities to serve your community alongside a proud tradition of volunteer firefighters. While there are opportunities for financial compensation, this is volunteer public service — not a career position. Interested in joining?
