There’s a reason that this series received D Magazine’s most recent “Best of Big D” award for best summer music series – because nothing else compares!
The third-annual Summer Music Series is back, in partnership with WRR101, Mockingbird Station, University Crossing, and OpenClassical DFW. It comes a little earlier this year, so as not to coincide with FIFA World Cup events happening in June. Every Saturday evening from May 16th through June 6th, you can enjoy free, live chamber music performances from some of DFW’s most eminent professional classical musicians. Bring the family, bring a picnic, and even bring the dog! Seating fills up quickly, so guests are encouraged to also bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on.
All performances take place from 7:30-8:30 pm in the outdoor pavilion of Level 2 of Mockingbird Station, next to the Angelika Film Center.
Dates:
Saturday, May 16th: A Spring Sampler
Celebrate the beauty of Springtime with a genre-bending program featuring instrumentalists and vocalists performing radiant short works. Mark Landson, from Open Classical, hosts over a dozen performers to kick off the series with dazzling performances of winds, strings, pianists, singers, and even a virtuoso whistler.
Saturday, May 23rd: Summer Love
A tribute to lovers, from Classical to Broadway. Featuring voice, violin and piano.

Saturday, May 30th: Bach to Beatles for string quartet
A string quartet performs popular works by both the great classical composer JS Bach, and favorite songs by the great classic rock band the Beatles. Why? Because it’s fun!
Saturday, June 6th: Music Around the World – A special World Cup-themed program, classical style!
With Argentine tangos, Austrian waltzes, Irish Reels and a touch of K-Pop, we explore the diverse musical heritage of the world in the lead up to this summer’s World Cup. Featuring strings and piano.
