Star Wars Review: Chopper (C1-10P in Mining Facility Disguise, Droid Factory)

Star WarsImageVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,353: Chopper (C1-10P in Mining Facility Disguise, Droid Factory) . This guy is a redeco that kicked off the second build-a-droid program, and it's pretty great. The bright yellow and pale blue reminded me of some other robots in recent years, but Chopper retains his typical functionality. The jointed arms are all still here, with nifty extra deco on his dish. I'd recommend this one just for the swell coloration, which is unusual for Star Wars. It's sold out online so that's probably moot, but get one if you can. Read the whole review.

Dino! Blokees Blokees Transformers Defender Version 06 Brutal Fang Sludge-Brontosaurus Action Figure is a limb in the making, and is light on color. Hasbro Gets Zelda

ToysColorful LizardsVia Hasbro on BusinessWire: Hasbro to Produce New Toys Based on Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda Franchise. While there are no photos, they do confirm three 6-inch figures will be revealed at SDCC next week. Hasbro and a lot of American toy companies have been weirdly hesitant to embrace video games as a licensed property, despite the fact people probably spent a preposterous amount of time in Hyrule compared to literally any movie property from the past thirty years.

Experiment Zero by Man or Astro-Man? Gets Vinyl Repress

MusicColorful LizardsVia Touch and Go: MAN OR ASTRO-MAN? Experiment Zero (Orange) LP. I've still got an old pressing, but if you missed it? This is $25 and comes out on September 11 (never forget.) The track listing matches the older record releases, with the vinyl-only bonus track of "The Space Alphabet" at the end.

This album has been my go-to test for any new speakers, stereos, headphones, and so forth thanks to the "Stereo Phase Test" which actually says "this is the left channel" and "this is the right channel" on the first track. It's useful, and Steve Albini recorded this one so you should probably have a copy.

And there's also a new-to-me orange Shellac t-shirt for those who celebrate.

Review: Tomy Zoids Sinker Figure Kit

Figure of the DayTomy Zoids Sinker Figure KitSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

A reissue of a classic! The Tomy Zoids Sinker Figure Kit was a little manta ray kit of sorts, which used the then-new Zenevas cockpit back in the 1980s. A few versions of this kit were released, and this was a cheap Japanese import back when such a thing was logistically possible. The wind-up motor on this one never worked properly, so if anyone has a guide how to repair those please let me know.

Toy Aisle Reset Season - Target

ToysColorful LizardsVia me on Bluesky: I went to a bunch of Targets today, and it is definitely aisle reset season. New Jurassic, Godziburst, TMNT, Joe TMNT, DC stuff it is a good time to hunt. But not for Star Wars, that should be next week. I was expecting the big aisle reset to be early in August, but I visited several Phoenix-adjacent Targets on Wednesday to find lots of new toys, and empty slots where the new toys will undoubtedly be by the weekend.

Highlights: Mattel Jurassic World Exclusives were only at one store, which had an endcap. I'm pretty obsessed with the "Reimagined" toys, which I have skipped by waiting for sales that never quite came. Godzilla Godziburst are very affordable $10 kaiju with accessories in wacky sofubi-esque colors, and Target has an exclusive one coming later. (It's red.) Mattel DC Batman vs. Killer Croc was at one store, and several had shelves of the new $12-ish 6-inch Batman. World of TMNT Sewer Heroes 4-pack was there from Playmates, which I hear is exclusive to Target. G.I. Joe x TMNT was also out at only one Target on a dedicated island.

Masters of the Universe Origins Movie Moss Man & Ram-Man were also at some locations, but I didn't snap a photo of that one. I didn't see evidence of Sketchbook Skeletor yet.

It's a good season to hunt. Target's Star Wars: The Retro Collection 6-pack is showing up in store stockrooms right now, but is not expected to be on-shelf (or ship) until Sunday. In a season of many exciting new toys, it is certainly the most anticipated here.

I also recommend scanning older toys' prices. Prices varied from location to location, but there were plenty of interesting items under $10.

Star Wars Review: Zeb Orrelios (New Republic Pilot, The Vintage Collection)

Star WarsImageVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Zeb Orrelios (New Republic Pilot, The Vintage Collection). I haven't seen this guy in shops yet, but I got one from work - and it's pretty impressive. The smirk, the teeth, the tiny "PULL TO INFLATE" on the vest, Hasbro did a super nice job on this figure, with two accessories to boot. And it's $28. so you're probably going to ask "is this $8 better than a basic figure?" to which I would say "...I guess?" It's very good, but you don't get the energy blasts or any other bonus accessories to make you go "wow, sure, this is a deluxe figure." But the colors are nice, all the joints seem like they had a bit more time to design properly, and you're going to like this figure if you buy one and open it. Read the whole review.

Review: Super7 Universal Monsters Frankenstein ReAction+ Figure

Figure of the DaySuper7 Universal Monsters Frankenstein ReAction+ FigureSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

The year of o-ring redux! The Super7 Universal Monsters Frankenstein ReAction+ Figure is the latest in this new era of Joes and monsters. The Boris Karloff face sculpt is great, the articulation is precisely what you would expect, and Super7 did a nice job with the scars, wrinkles, and general vibe. It's not an exact match for 1980s Hasbro, as the hands and posture are quite different, plus he has a "skirt" for his jacket to keep with the traditional silhouette. Yet, he still fits nicely in most vehicles that I tested. I like this guy a bunch. Read on!

Figure of the DayHasbro Transformers x Stranger Things Collaborative Freakwency & 8-TraxSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

New, if you can find one! The Hasbro Transformers x Stranger Things Collaborative Freakwency & 8-Trax is nifty deployer with a box buddy and a chicken gun. Most of the Target stores on my rounds sold out, but plenty still have 1 or 2 left - I have no idea if it's on clearance, though. I'd say go hunting if you want one, it's a worthwhile toy set. Read on!

Hasbro Unveils 2026 SDCC Pricing

HasbroOptimus Crunch!Via Hasbro: The countdown to SDCC is live! It's not a huge m enu of options, and most of the prices are pretty close to being within 10%-15% of a non-exclusive item - with some exceptions. It's worth taking a look, I'd say a lot of it seems close to fair with some pricey cereal box packaging and The Real Ghostbusters set far exceeding expectations at $67.99 for a $20ish figure and a small-sized vehicle. (Ecto-1 was $60, and huge.)

Of course, some of these are limited interest, special items for fans. $67.99 isn't cheap, but who else is selling you a screaming glow-in-the-dark wiener with a previously unreleased Glow Copter Kenner vehicle? It's a special item, so be sure to keep your eyes open for when this one goes on sale.

Classic Review: Hasbro Transformers Generations Titans Return Blurr

Figure of the DayHasbro Transformers Generations Titans Return BlurrSomething new every day-- but this was posted 10 years ago today! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Posted 10 years ago! For some reason this character is hard to get right - but this was an exciting step in the right direction. Hasbro Transformers Generations Titans Return Blurr was part of a linewide "Headmasters" gimmick that lasted about a year. Presented in toy colors, one of the fastest cars to exist in popular culture was reimagined as a futuristic vehicle with opening cockpit. And a pilot! It was super fun to have figure-and-vehicle play a few years before Hasbro gave G.I. Joe x Transformers a shot, although we have since gotten cartoon repaints of this mold and a wholly new mold based on the 1986 movie. This isn't quite as beloved as when it came out, but it's a solid, fun toy that invites your playing with it. I hope you got one. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!

Target's New Super7 Pink Godzilla

GodzillaColor Shock!Via me on Bluesky: Saw this pink Godzilla at the secret Target up north late last night. I hadn't seen it before, but when I got home I saw a post teasing it from Super7 - apparently this wasn't supposed to be out yet. I didn't scan it, so I couldn't tell you the price.

The Color Shock! pink glitter Godzilla was over by the collectibles section near electronics and video games. Also of note, this particular Target had an expanded blind box section in the same area.

The LEGO Movie at AMC Theaters This Week

MoviesGood LuckVia AMC Theaters: The Lego Movie is getting a couple of midday screenings today (Monday) and apparently just added a show on Wednesday. All of them are while I'm working, so presumably this is meant as a thing to dump kids at and go run an errand. Maybe you have kids to dump off while you're working.

he movie did great business back in 2014, back before people said "we've had enough Chris Pratt, thank you."

Made to Order Sunstorm (and others)

TransformersJet Screamer Via Hasbro: Transformers Studio Series Generation 1 Seeker Storm Pack is up for pre-order, and it's four Studio Series 86 Seekers for $149.99. Averaging $37.50, it's cheaper than the current $43-$45 for a single Voyager-class toy - but it's also effectively four of the same mold with different face plates.

It's made-to-order and will be open until August 24. You get Acid Storm, Ion Storm, Nova Storm, and Hasbro's first non-Universe non-Masterpiece Sunstorm. What's less good is the release date - it's over a year away. Mark those calendars for October 2027.

Star Wars Review: R4-6D0 (Droid Factory)

Star WarsImageVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,353: R4-6D0 (Droid Factory). This redeco droid includes a leg and sold out fast - I only got mine thanks to a brief window of restock on the Disney store site. While it's the same basic R4 body (with toe cables) we've been getting, there are new panel details that we haven't seen before like a box with split triangles or little white cut-outs. If you don't collect this stuff, it's probably not exciting, but it's a red and orange droid from The Mandalorian which actually feels fresh. Read the whole review.

Figure of the DayTakara-Tomy Zoids Wild ZW-14 Stegosage Figure KitSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Animated! The Takara-Tomy Zoids Wild ZW-14 Stegosage Figure Kit not only walks around, but he moves his jaw and his plates move. The silver armor folds down and saws back and forth - it's really cool to see in motion, which is why you should get, open, and assemble this robot dinosaur kit. It was pretty inexpensive when it came out, but the current international shipping charges took care of that - so maybe keep an eye open for a deal.

Star Wars Review: Guard Droid (with STAP, ActionVerse)

Star WarsImageVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Guard Droid (with STAP, ActionVerse). This Target exclusive is pretty new, and has already been clearanced out all over town. I was planning on skipping this line entirely, but 75% off is a hard deal to pass up. The 4 1/2-inch droid is bigger than the 3 3/4-inch scale stuff we usually get, otherwise I'd recommend you all buy it. The vehicle is very good. The figure's construction and deco are great. My only real gripes are the beefy proportions and the changed scale. Had Hasbro kept this guy at 3 3/4-inches, $22 for a good figure and a good vehicle with a swamp stand and two launching rockets is quite a decent buy. Read the whole review.

Figure of the DayLocomotion Media Group Operation: Recall Dark Reapers Action FigureSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Surprisingly ornate! The Locomotion Media Group Operation: Recall Dark Reapers Action Figure is an o-ring figure, with a twist - they put a lot of money into it. It has that "Tetris camo," as I've found the kids call it, plus jolly candy-like red armor like spiked shin guards. The helmet has multiple colors on it, plus numerous painted, multi-color buttons on the back to match the body. It's colorful, and the bad guys wearing skull face masks seems very "now." The one big difference between this line, and actual Joes, are the hands - Reapers have swivel wrists with a more defined grip.
