Dr Arik Kershenbaum (Girton College, University of Cambridge) examines how evolutionary pressures shape animal communication, exploring its complexity across species. He considers whether AI could “translate” these signals, and how concepts like meaning apply beyond human language, with examples from dolphins and wolves.
