The traditional wooden village of Drvengrad was created by filmmaker Emir Kusturica in the mountains of Mokra Gora. Once designed as a film set the town consists of wooden architecture, mountain views, and cultural events. There are also streets named after Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara, Argentine football player Diego Armando Maradona, Serbian actor Miodrag Petrović Čkalja, and famous film directors Federico Fellini and Ingmar Bergman. One street is named after Novak Djoković, one of the best tennis players in the world.

Drvengrad features a significant church dedicated to Saint Sava. This wooden church serves as a spiritual focal point for the village. It was created by renowned filmmaker Emir Kusturica and reflects traditional Serbian architecture

Small towns in the Crossroads of America State

The town of New Harmony has a history of utopian societies establishing it. The Harmonists, a group of German religious separatists who aspired to communal perfection, were the first group. They sold the land to entrepreneur Robert Owne, who himself sought to establish an early socialist utopia based on the principles of equality and education. The heirs of these utopians maintain a great deal of their optimism today through designed gardens and unique buildings.

Situated on the Adriatic Sea is the historic coastal town of Dubrovnik. Its Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town was a filming location for the TV program “Game of Thrones.”


Among the highlights is the Rector’s Palace, built in the 15th century. It was built in the Gothic-Renaissance style and is known as the most impressive cultural and historical landmark in Dubrovnik.


Visitors enjoy a cable car ride up Srd Hill or
a boat ride to Lukrum Island.

Lake Bled is situated in the Julian Alps of northwestern Slovenia, adjacent to the town of Bled.

Lake Bled is surrounded by mountains and forests and has a castle perched on a rock overlooking the lake.

Bled Castle sits perched on a cliff; this medieval castle offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is a museum, a chapel, and a printing press in the castle and a wine cellar offering wine tastings.

Bled Island is the only island in Slovenia; it features a charming church and is a popular spot for boat trips.

Visitors can go on the traditional Pletna boat, which is a large gondola-type boat that comes with a rower.

Bardstown is located in the center of Kentucky’s Bourbon region, where whiskey is aged in barrels to produce a strong, flavorable drink.

The Bardstown Bourbon Company and Willett Distillery are just two of the several bourbon companies in the area open to tours and product samples.

The Women’s Civil War Museum honors women’s contributions to the conflict.

The Civil War Museum has one of the biggest collections of American Civil War artifacts.

My Old Kentucky Home State Park is one of Bardstown’s most endearing historical sites. This 1818 plantation house, named after the state hymn, is Kentucky’s first state-owned park.
