I bought this to add a second monitor to my older laptop. But it doesnt work because my laptop does not have USB3. Be sure the check the color of the USB plug on your computer, and if it isn't blue, then the HDMI will not work. All the other stuff will work good, though. You can still use it for memory cards, keyboard, mouse, etc with a USB2 outlet.

This is a very easy to use adapter. I have an underwater action camera. I can take the memory card right out of the camera and plug the adapter into my phone. I have a Google pixel and it immediately recognizes the external storage. It's very easy to transport the pictures from the card onto my phone storage. I think it's a really good value for the money to get the pictures off of the card

The hub works excellent. Just that my mini pc was originally a 4 channel router/ built in vpn using pfense software. I rather have it using it for a pc. Runs pretty fast

Weird that you have to manually install the driver, but it works.

Nice to have another HDMI port on my laptop.

It's been months an for some reason I just now noticed that,

it seems to be unable to transfer sound?

Whatever monitor that is plugged into this wont be able to make sound, even if it has speakers.

Note to those complaining about it disconnecting all the time:

You more than likely need an adapter. Look at the color of your USB plugs.

If they are not blue, then you likely have old plugs and they are not compatible.

An adapter that has a black plug will work with old plugs.

Most adapters will have a black plug with blue plugs in the HUB.

Anyway, this is only for the USB plugs, not the HDMI.

I'm getting the same issue with the screen disconnecting.

It seems like this adapter needs a lot of power to run, and whenever your computer does an operation that uses RAM or something, that will trigger the screen to blackout.

For me this literally happens any time I have to save something. Be it, dragging an image into a folder, moving files, or saving a project I'm working on.

The blackouts aren't bothering me too much, since this is meant to be a 4th screen for me,

but I've seen others trying to use this as their main screen, and can definitely see how this would be extremely frustrating.

Definitely docking a couple stars in this update.

It went from blacking out, to just fully disconnecting the HDMI cord. REPEATEDLY.

Meaning, it flashes every single screen while my computer readjusts the orientation and resolutions of each screen, because this thing won't stop this mess.

It worked "okay" at best for a couple months and that was it.

Yeah no, this is happening literally minutes apart now.

It's no longer just blacking out, it's full on disconnecting every few minutes.

This is unacceptible.

This adapter let me hook up several items at one time making it easy and not so cluttered. Thanks

When I first connected the device, it would connect then disconnect with an interval too short to be able to get the driver file from the device. I tried this on a 2nd laptop and had the same result. I have gotten it to mostly work though and I will share how. I have the device connected to a USB 3 hub. I was then able to install the driver from it's flash ROM. It still will not work correctly directly connected to any of my USB 3 ports on my Laptop, At this time I still have one issue in that the additional screen goes black from time to time. The computer is not detecting a disconnect or anything and it comes back as if there was never an issue. Because of what I have stated I will not recommend this device I primarily wrote this so that people can at least try my method to get it to work if they are still planning on it or already have it.

I had bought another USB to HDMI product before this and it came with a physical CD driver and was not at all what was advertised, this product works in less than a minute and required little effort on my part and the driver simply comes with the USB to HDMI extension. Plus it comes with extra USB ports not just the HDMI which is a bonus for me because I have used a lot of my USB ports. If you are looking for an extension for a second or third monitor and don't have the extra HDMI port, like i did, I highly recommend this as a solution.

Great value and straightforward to set up, just follow the instructions step by step. I purchased it for my laptop to connect two large monitors, and it perfectly meets my needs. However, I deducted one star because I have to manually connect the third monitor each time. It doesn't seem to be automatically detected.after a while, the connection with extended monitor becomes very smooth.

Laggy as don’t buy

The box it came in was of poor quality and gave almost no information about the product. I notice it is quite finicky and will disconnect often, but not enough to discontinue using it. I found for my laptop the hdmi port (one of the reasons I purchased it over other products) did not work for my monitor or laptop. As it does allow me to plug in additional devices that is helpful, but for the price it cost I would have expected better quality.
