PURE MASTIHA: This Chios gum mastic comes in the form of medium tears. Chios Mastiha 100% natural resin of Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia, a tree that grows only on the Aegean Island of Chios, Greece. Comes in the form of medium tears.
BENEFICIAL APPLICATIONS: Chios Mastiha is a unique product with many beneficial qualities and a wide range of uses since antiquity. Today, it is valued in pharmaceuticals, perfumes, cosmetics, beverages, natural gum, bakery goods, and sweets, as well as in cooking. Its applications include use as a hard chewing gum, food ingredient, digestive decoction, and natural medicine or food supplement.
AUTHENTICITY: Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status in the European Union and included in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.
UNIQUE TASTE AND AROMA: Chios Mastiha is a 100% natural product with a balsamic, green and rustic odour and a characteristic taste often described as a blend of earthy pine, citrus, and herbal notes. It may have a subtle bitterness that transforms into a refreshing, clean, and slightly sweet taste with a lingering aromatic aftertaste.
UNIFORMITY: Exposure of Mastiha tears to light, heat, humidity & air may lead to alteration of the product form. Wrong storage may lead to Mastiha tears sticking to each other and becoming one hard mass. In this case, you can place it in the freezer for a few hours and then break it up, into smaller pieces or even powder, in order to consume it as desired. Any change of the form due to wrong storage conditions does not cause any alteration of its properties.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: Always store Mastiha in its original packaging, tightly closed. Keep in a dry & cool place that will not exceed 64°F or 18°C for up to one week. For periods longer than 7 days and during the summer, always store at below 57.2°F or 14°C.
