Calm cat, snarky stamping and paper strips

Hello friends.  Welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn.  Let’s make a simple and clean card with a little sass and stamping. This calm cat is sending snarky wishes. Add snarky stamping, alcohol markers, fussy cutting and paper strips for the background. This was simple to make, and the cat pops against the simple paper strips.

The featured Unity Stamp Company stamp and sentiment are from Self Care Satire, plus patterned paper.

To begin, here is a look at the finished card.
Sentiment:  Sending calm thoughts and permission to ignore everyone.

Helpful Tips:

To begin, stamp and color the cat, then fussy cut (cut out) around the cat to make a focal point. Then, gather three pieces of patterned paper and/or solid papers in coordinating colors.

Next, adhere the strips and then cut off the excess paper from the overage.

Also, die-cut the white background panel using scalloped & stitched nesting dies and die-cut the sentiment using scallops & circles dies.

Finally, adhere the cat and the sentiment over the die-cut background using flat and foam double-sided adhesive. Then adhere the panel to the card base.

Soft Layers, Simple Design

I stamped Sweet Bee Blooms in black on kraft cardstock, then cut the panel with the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies. The deckled edge adds texture right away, so the card already has a little interest before any of the mixed-media details go on.

I added soft background layers with the Hive & Honeycomb Stencil and the script stamp from Buzzy Blooms. Keeping both very light lets them fill in the background while the flowers stay the main focus. Then I added soft white-gold watercolor to the petals and a warmer yellow gold to the bees.

A little gold splatter and thread repeat that shimmer one more time. I cut the sentiment banner with the Scalloped & Stitched Sentiment Dies, which gives the simple greeting a finished edge and anchors the bottom of the card without covering too much of the stamped design.

Haunted Home Decor

Hi Everyone! Welcome to another Make it Monday! Today I’m sharing with you how to create your own Halloween Home Decor sign with Unity Stamp Co. The Coop is Haunted set which is part of the July ’26 Kit of the Month.

Supplies:

  1. Unity Stamp Co. The Coop is Haunted
  2. Unity Stamp Co. Deckle & Stitches {nesting dies}
  3. Unity Stamp Co. Scallops & Banners {nesting dies}
  4. Unity Stamp Co. Distressed Dots
  5. Small wooden arrow sign (sourced from Dollar Tree or similar store)
  6. Acrylic paint in black and green
  7. Distress Oxide inks in Twisted Citron and Ripe Persimon
  8. White cardstock
  9. Black ink (alcohol marker compatible)
  10. Alcohol markers
  11. Embellishments such as Halloween themed die cuts and googly eyes

Tutorial:

Step 1: Stamp the costumed chickens with alcohol marker compatible black ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Color with alcohol markers.

Step 2: Die cut the chickens with the third largest Deckle & Stitches die. Partial die cut one edge to make it more square shape.

Step 3: Stamp a sentiment onto white cardstock. Die cut with a Scallops & Banners die.

Step 4: Ink blend Distress Oxide Twisted Citron onto the banner die cut. Then, ink blend Distress Oxide Ripe Persimmon along the edges.

Step 5: Paint the wooden sign with black acrylic paint. Let it dry.

Step 6: Using the Distressed Dots background stamp, stamp onto the painted sign with Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Ripe Persimmon.

Step 7: Paint the edges of the sign with green acrylic paint.

Step 8: Adhere the ink blended sentiment onto the right side of the sign. Next, adhere the costumed chickens towards the left of the sign, overlapping the sentiment banner.

Step 9: Add embellishments. I used die cut zig zags and candy popped up on foam. For added fun, I adhered googly eyes to two of the costumed chickens.

What an amusing sign you can use for Halloween home decor! Hang it on your door, on a mantel, or by the candy bowl. You could also use glow-in-the-dark paint for an added spooky element. This Stings… in the Sweetest Way! 🐝

Some stamps have a way of making you smile the moment you see them, and This Stings from Unity Stamp Company is definitely one of them! This adorably grumpy little bee perfectly captures those days when you’ve simply… hive had enough. Whether you’re creating a card for a friend who needs a laugh or just embracing your own mood with a bit of humor, this stamp is guaranteed to brighten someone’s day.

For this card, I wanted to create a warm honey-inspired color palette using rich golden yellows paired with vibrant teal accents. The contrast really makes the little bee pop while giving the entire card a cheerful summertime feel.

Layering with Texture

One of my favorite ways to add interest to a card is by combining patterned paper with detailed dies. The Buzzin’ Bloomin’ Paper Pack provided the perfect floral and honeycomb-inspired background, while the Honeycomb Chaos Die adds wonderful dimension and movement behind the focal image.

To frame the bee, I reached for the Hexagon Nesting Dies, which tie perfectly into the honeycomb theme. Layering several die cuts creates depth without overwhelming the adorable stamped image.

A simple sentiment tucked along the edge of the hexagon finishes the design with the perfect touch of sass.

Little Details Make the Difference

To complete the card, I added a few finishing touches:

  • White paint splatter for playful texture
  • Gold splatter to mimic sweet drops of honey
  • Ink blending around the hexagon for a soft glow
  • Pops of dimension created by layering the honeycomb die cuts

These small details help bring the entire design to life while keeping the spotlight on that hilariously relatable bee.

Cool Goose Summer Stamp Set Cardmaking Tutorial | Unity Stamps

There is something especially inviting about a clean and simple card that lets a fun image take center stage. Rick is back with another Membership Thursday blog post, sharing a cheerful summer-inspired project featuring the Cool Goose Summer Stamp Set, part of the July 2026 Whit-Kit Card Kit. In today’s project, you’ll see how simple stamping, alcohol marker coloring, and thoughtful design choices come together to create a handmade card that feels lighthearted, balanced, and relaxing.

Project Overview

Summer Beach Card Making with Whit-Kit

Hello friends.  Welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn.  Enjoy Summer beach card making with a seaside goose. To build the scene, I added beach stenciling, sweet duck stamping, masking, fussy cutting and alcohol ink coloring. It is close to a one layer card with the exception of the sentiment tag.

For this, ink blending was easy with the beach stencil. The featured Unity Stamp Company stamp and sentiment are from the July 2026 Whit-Kit card kit membership called Cool Goose Summer. To make the scene pop, I used die-cuts from Deckle and Stitches nesting dies.

To begin, here is a look at the finished card.

Additionally, this is a look at the Whit-Kit Membership for July 2026.  There is also a
one-time full kit and the stamps only.

Helpful Tips:

1.       Prepare a vertical scored white card base 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.
2.       Die-cut a rectangle on white cardstock using the next-to-largest Deckle & Stitches nesting die.
3.       Stamp the goose twice: once on the bottom right of the deckle rectangle piece and again on masking or scrap paper.
4.       Fussy cut (cut out) the extra duck.
5.       Color the duck using markers of choice.  I used shades of tan, yellow, light orange, red and light gray.
6.       Mask the duck.  Place repositionable adhesive behind the cut duck piece or use masking sheets.
7.       Temporarily adhere the cut duck piece over the colorful duck on the rectangle panel.
8.       Using By the Shore stencil, ink blend the beachy scene with light tan and three shades of teal dye ink.
9.       Remove the duck masking.
10.    Stamp then trim the sentiment onto white cardstock.
11.    Adhere the card front and sentiment tag over the card base using double-sided foam tape or glue.

In summary, this was relatively simple to make.  Just pick your stamp and a complementary background and put them inside the same scene together.

Quick Watercolor Card with Daisy Defined

Daisy Defined Watercolor

I stamped Daisy Defined and kept the petals white so the daisies would stay bright against the watercolor. The background came together with quick Distress Ink watercoloring, and the deeper blue made such a big difference. I added yellow to the flower centers, and once it touched the wet blue around the stems, it made that pretty green happen. At the end after it dried, I used a little white acrylic paint to clean up the petals and add some splatters.

I die cut the daisies with the larger rectangle die from the Zig Zag Rectangles Nesting Dies turned sideways. That way it has the stitched border on the top and bottom. Then I added some simple layers behind with torn cardstock and vellum.

For the greeting, I die cut the sentiment with a Postage Stamp die. The vellum heart and loopy string die cut add a soft little cluster, while the white sentiment piece ties back to the daisies. A lovely way to add a little joy to someone’s day.
