Up! Button Emoji Meaning
The captialized word UP with an exclamation point after it, shown enclosed in a square. Originally intended to denote leveling up in a game, it can also broadly indicate that something had increased, improved, been updated, or moved upward in ranking or status.
Typically depicted as white text within a blue square background, though Facebook's design has a green background.
This emoji predates the inclusion of emojis within Unicode. It was first added to early Japanese emoji keyboards by SoftBank in 1999.
Up! Button was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name "Squared Up with Exclamation Mark" and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
