7 tips for shifting your mindset!

Sis, in order to walk in your purpose you have to shift old mindsets. You have to leave what’s old to attain what’s new. Sometimes we get used to familiar that it’s hard for us to move into unfamiliar territories God has for us. Listed below are 7 tips to help you shift your mindset from negative to positive. Now stand up sis and walk boldly in your purpose!

  1. Identify areas to change: A lot of times this is hard for some of us because we don’t want to sit and do the inner work it takes to realize the flaws we try hard to cover. Sis you have to sit and do the inner work to begin identifying the areas that need to change.

  2. Check yourself: Yes sis, sometimes we need to check ourselves when we are being negative. I had to send a video of myself discussing a topic that was important to my Coach. Sis let me tell you I was being so hard on myself, I had to sit in my authority and shift my thinking. My Coach emailed me back and told me she loved it and that I did an awesome job. Here I was beating myself up thinking I had bombed it and the whole time I knocked it out of the park. So check yourself and be kind to yourself.

  3. Be open to humor: Don’t sit around being stiff sis, get out and laugh more. Check out that funny movie that you keep saying you’re going to watch. Hit up that comedy club that you keep passing and saying you’re going to attend. Stop judging that one friend that’s always goofy and has a sense of humor. Always remember laughter is good for the soul.

  4. Follow a healthy lifestyle: Believe me when I say eating healthy is a plus but when I say follow a healthy lifestyle, I’m saying leave things that are dead weights in your life. Leave those who are constantly negative alone. Leave the friend that is always gossiping about everyone. Sometimes your lifestyle isn’t healthy because of your crowd.

  5. Surround yourself with positive people: This goes right back to tip #4, it’s important to watch the company you keep.

  6. Practice positive self talk: Sis, this is something I am big on, I affirm myself on a daily basis. Being a survivor of domestic violence I constantly have to speak life into myself by reassuring myself that I hold the power over my thoughts and feelings towards myself and not my abuser. My abuser would tell me day in and day out that I was nothing and I would never be anything but the enemy is a liar, I’m all that and some!

  7. Stop walking in darkness: As we experience traumatic events in our life we tend to focus on all the negatives. This can cause us to walk in darkness. John 8:12 says Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”Walking in darkness means we are unaware of the patterns in our lives. In all that you do, trust God and he will begin to show you these patterns so your healing journey can begin and your darkness will turn to light.
