Hi flyingcatstiel :) I found your blog through an archived version of the destielfanfic ficrec-blog - hope it’s alright to write to you out of the blue. I was wondering if you know anything about the beloved destielfanfic-blog suddenly disappearing from tumblr? I think I visited it last week if not later, so it must be pretty recent… I hope it’s possible to restore and hasn’t been deleted for good 🫣 Also I want to thank you and the other mods for all the work you’ve been putting into the site. It has been much much appreciated for many years now 💙💚

Hello there and thank you for your inquiry and your kind words! I'm devasted and I've no idea what exactly happened, but the blog has disappeared. This Sunday I did the usual #archive resource reblog and then wanted to reblog one more post and suddenly that was not possible anymore. The blog was not on my dash.

I've contacted tumblr staff and I got their automated response that my message was received. That's the situation right now. All i can do is to hope for the best and see @staff do some miracles and bring back @destielfanfic back from the unexpected exile/hell/purgatory/the empty/orphaned blog graveyard etc.

I'm tagging some other active destiel fanwork blogs here, follow them for exciting destiel posts. And please reblog this post to get the message out to our followers about sudden disappearance of @destielfanfic blog.

This is devastating. I'm not as active in the Destiel fandom as I once was but this is like the Library of Alexandria burning for our fandom. All the archived fic that has long since been deleted but was lovingly preserved by the admins. I'm sure they still have records of that fic but gosh all the work that went into that blog over the years.
@flyingcatstiel is there anything we can do here to help you? Can we start some campaign to put pressure on tumblr to help? I just hate this has happened. :(

I admit, I was hoping that @staff would work their magic and @destielfanfic would be back in a week or so. I’ve heard about some blogs coming back after months, but, alas, here we are.
I’m all for some kind of action, I’m open to ideas. Maybe, let’s start with pestering tumblr staff again? My fellow mod and I have sent several submissions about missing blog, but never got anything back besides the auto response.
I’m going to contact them today again. I’ll be very happy if more people could do the same. It’s September, guys. So many destiel anniversaries are just around the corner. 💙💚

No updates, unfortunately. You can find an archive of the blog here. We set up index sheets to ensure the site was crawl'd (is that a verb?) regularly and extensively. So as annoying as it is, you should still be able to navigate around for the most part.

Summary: Dean, feverish and unsteady since he touched the First Blade, collapses in the middle of the hunt for Abaddon. Sam calls on Castiel, who can tell them only that something is very wrong with Dean’s soul—and that the other angels can sense it. As the Mark of Cain grows bigger and uglier and his dreams get weirder, an increasingly sick and pissed-off Dean chafes against Castiel’s hands-on brand of concern and his strained relationship with Sam.
Kevin, meanwhile, may be dead, but he and his mother have a plan anyway, and Dean might be the guy to make it happen.

This was a really enjoyable read. The author has a great grasp of the characters’ voices and with a good balance of emotional tension, plot, and bunker recovery times, you’ll fly through the story. If you love seeing whumped-but-stoic!Dean, you should stop everything and read this fic. I’ve tagged it hurt/comfort, but it definitely skews mostly to whump/hurt (and it’s delightful). Diverging from canon toward the end of season 9, well, uh…I guess the author’s summary does a good job covering it! The Mark of Cain is seriously doing a number on Dean and yup, the angels are taking note.
The fic is reminiscent of early destiel fic what with the angels fussing over what is happening to Dean. So if you’re a fan of special!Dean fic, you’ll also want to give this a try. I thought the author did a great job with it without going overboard. I really liked the romance aspect of the fic and for similar reasons. It’s not over the top. There’s pining on Dean’s end but the build is less UST-y and more comforting inevitability. I often bring up my bias against shorter fics and usually want more when it’s a plotty fic under 50k. But something about this story, man. It just satisfies. (Ok, so maybe I *do* want more Linda. Maybe more Dean & Kevin, too. :P)
