NarraScope, Life Recap
I delivered the Saturday keynote at NarraScope on June 13th. It was a really nice time. There’s something rare and clarifying about speaking to a live audience, getting their reactions in real time, and being able to physically emphasize my points. I talked about the importance of writing as the basis, rather than a modular component, of narrative games. I showed a bit of my early notes and artwork for the PT games and talked about compromises we must make to bring ideas to life. And I made a few other big impassioned statements that might’ve been worthy of Manifesto Jam 2026 had I not already committed them, fatally, to Powerpoint.
This talk should be available as a VOD eventually. A big thanks to the audience for their great questions, to tech master Logan for transcribing those questions, and to NarraScope for having me.
Announcing a pregnancy is an awkward thing for me, so I guess I like to tie this information to a gag or some larger point, or bury it in the third paragraph of a blog post or whatever. But it’s what I’ve been up to while ostensibly resting. I’m 41, and this is one of those little backburner dreams I can no longer put off. She’s due in the fall and is pounding uterus as we speak.
As the body changes, my mind is going. In the past week I’ve been asked point blank about a third game multiple times. I have nothing to report except that I’m thinking. Yes…… Thinking. Like a guy who’s been yelled at online for 24 hours and deleted his social media bios. The summer will be a lot of thinking, and maybe there’ll be the shape of something after that.
I wish you all a restful one!

A huge thanks to everyone who has played and talked about Perfect Tides: Station to Station on Switch! It’s such a relief to see this release through with ClickPulp, and it’s a wonderful feeling knowing more people can discover the game this way.
Perfect Tides: Station to Station Available for Pre-Order on Switch
It’s practically here. You can now pre-order Perfect Tides: Station to Station at a 15% discount for Switch in both the US and EU eShops.
During the pre-sale, I’m also discounting both Perfect Tides games by 15% on Steam. You can get 1 and 2 individually or discounted as bundle.
It’s a thrill that this day is finally coming, and I hope it’s the first of many. I’m very eager for more people to try the game on their platform of choice.
Quick Q&A:
Is the original Perfect Tides coming to Switch?
Yes, Edmundo and I have already gotten the ball rolling on this process. I can’t estimate a date right now, since PT1 needs a bit more adjustment gameplay- and content-wise to be ready for console. But yes, we are working on it.
Do I need to play the games in order?
PT2 was designed to be accessible as a standalone game, and if you’re new to the adventure genre, it is an easier starting point. Although the two games together paint a rich picture of Mara’s adolescence, it is not necessary to play them in order.
