Now for today’s project a Rusty Bedspring Angel which is made from a rusty old bedspring. The head is made from a Styrofoam ball and Plaster of Paris. The rusty metal wings are something that I had picked up at the trade days a while back.

Supplies for Rusty Bedspring Angel

Rusty Bedspring Angel
For this bedspring angel’s head, I started off making a mixture of watered down Plaster of Paris. Not quite as thick as peanut butter.
Then stick the plastic fork into the Styrofoam ball for something to hold onto.
Then dip it into the watered-down mixture, rolling it around until completely covered and smooth. Let it dry a little before sitting it down on wax paper to finish drying. The eyes can be added before the mixture dries or added on later with some hot glue.
Next give the head two coats of flesh colored paint (If you don’t have any flesh colored paint you can make your own by mixing together some pink and ivory colored paint). Let dry!
Then use an old paintbrush and stipple some mauve onto the cheeks.
Apply the Spanish moss to the head of the angel for its hair using hot glue.

I used annealed wire to attach the rusty wings to the rusty bedspring.
The halo for the rusty bedspring angel was made from annealed wire.
Then hot glues to the head.
Use hot glue to attach the coffee-stained collar to the top of the rusty spring.
I used bead cord to string a few beads and a crystal. Then used a piece of wire and hot glue to add to the bottom of the head.
Next, the head was attached with hot glue, letting the string of beads hang down the center of the bedspring.
Not liking the gap and hot glue showing around the neck of the bedspring angel I decided to add a small seed bead necklace around the front of the angel.
