GAME 3 - No. 2 Denison 12, No. 7 Rowan 10
  • In the first inning, Denison struck first when senior Jake Blozy (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) singled to right field, allowing junior Eric Sundgren (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) to get the Big Red on the board.
  • Although Rowan evened the score in the top of the second, Denison junior Max Fishbein (Atlanta, GA/Druid Hills) hit a grounder to second, driving in junior Cade Nowik (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) to reclaim the lead.
  • The Profs captured their first lead in the third inning at 3-2, but the Big Red produced another offensive explosion to regain momentum. A single through the right side from Blozy drove Sundgren in for his second score to tie it up, then sophomore Jack Rollo (Chesterfield, MO/Mary Inst. & Saint Louis Country Day School) launched a homer to right center sending two baseman to home and extending the lead to three runs, 6-3.
  • Rowan fought back again with two more runs in the fourth inning, but Denison manufactured two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Sundgren doubled down the left field line, pushing first-year Eron Vega (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) to the plate, while Blozy reached base on a fielding error, bringing Sundgren home for an 8-5 advantage.
  • After a scoreless fifth inning, the Big Red unleashed a four-run avalanche in the sixth. Sundgren scored on a passed ball, senior Eric Colaco (Richfield, OH/Revere) scored off a Blozy single, then Rollo and Blozy used their speed to get home from Nowik’s single to left field.
  • The Profs notched their third two-run inning in the top of the seventh, cutting the Big Red’s lead to five, 12-7. In the top of the ninth, Rowan got back in the game with three unearned runs, narrowing the score to 12-10, however the Big Red put an end to the rally when Rollo came in to pitch and delivered the final out on the mound.
  • Sundgren headlined the offense with four runs and a double, while Blozy and Rollo added three RBI apiece. Senior Nick Falter (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty) started on the mound for Denison, while junior Will Rettig (Perrysburg, OH/Perrysburg) earned the win after replacing Falter at the top of the fourth inning.
