.@Apple’s lobbying playbook is comprised of threats, intimidation, and fear all geared towards one thing… protecting their app store monopoly. @politico’s @birnbaum_e has the scoop on Apple’s lobbying tactics:

Apple clearly has no intention to comply with the DMA... Apple’s ‘plan’ is a shameless insult to the European Commission and the millions of European consumers they represent – it must not stand and should be rejected by the Commission. @RVMky:

.@Apple terminated @EpicGames' developer account the same week the DMA is set to go into effect. This egregious move is clearly intended to scare & deter ALL developers from criticizing @Apple's anticompetitive practices and trying to compete. Learn more: bit.ly/3v1UaXC

.@Apple's 30% “app tax” drives up prices for consumers because they have no choice but to use the @AppStore. Users are unable to purchase mobile apps anywhere else. It’s time to protect consumers and put an end to this monopoly. MORE: bit.ly/3qcRTGv

.@Apple's claim during #WWDC21 that it has "paid" developers $230 billion is absurd and insulting. That is money developers earned through their own apps, minus Apple's App Tax to the tune of.. $70B. BTW, thought Apple didn't know revenue of the App Store...

.@Apple is making false claims about security and privacy to prevent competition in the app marketplace. Thankfully, lawmakers are not buying it, and the #OpenAppMarketsAct is moving forward! wsj.com/articles/apple… #OpenTheAppStores

Today’s leak from @Apple is an admission that they have a chokehold on competition and that their prior claims about the risks of third party app stores are bogus. Read our full response to this news here: appfairness.org/coalition-for-…

Apple has made it clear they will stop at nothing to protect their outsized market power. This kind of abusive behavior is exactly why Congress must pass bipartisan legislation, like the Open App Markets Act, to level the playing field for developers and protect consumers.

🚨NEW: Apple didn't allow @jonstewart to interview @linakhanFTC or discuss certain topics when his show was on AppleTV+ A clear example of concerns @JusticeATR highlighted in its antitrust suit. Apple can use its power to exercise control over content it doesn't approve of.

Today’s announcement does not address the root of the problem. All developers and consumers deserve a fair app marketplace with rules that are applied equally. App store providers should not pick winners and losers.
