EAS 5460: Principles of Deep Learning (Course Preview)

Penn Engineering Online

Learn more about EAS 5460 Principles of Deep Learning, one of our graduate courses being offered in the Fall 2024 semester. In this preview, Professor Pratik Chaudhari shares a glimpse into the course and curriculum ...

Deep networks are at the heart of modern approaches in computer vision, natural language processing and robotics. Design of these networks requires a combination of intuition, theoretical foundation and empirical experience — all of which are covered in this course's exploration of the general principles of deep learning. This course develops insight into popular empirical practices with a focus on the training of neural networks and builds theoretical skills to develop new ideas in deep learning and to deploy neural networks in real world applications. By the end of this course, students will be able to use these networks to tackle different problems by understanding what networks do, when they do / do not work and what types of systems have been built.
