Hello, hello, hello, my crafty friends!! I’m back and I’m sliding in with a nice, simple card this week. In case you’re wondering, no I have NOT been in the hospital, for a change. I decided to take a 2 month break from card making because my baby just graduated High School!!! I wanted to be there and be present with him during his final month and we had a really awesome graduation party for him so we had some planning to do as well. I still can’t believe my Jayden is a HS graduate. He’s only 17, he graduated early like his Mama. His girlfriend still has a year of HS left so I’m so very grateful that I’ll have him around for at least another year. He’s planning on working and continuing his online electrical courses. Beyond that, the possibilities are endless. And thank God I have another year to prepare for being empty nesters. I’m not sure how I’m going to handle that.

Anywho, moving on. I love these gorgeous flowers from Gina K’s You Give Me Butterflies stamp set. I also used the coordinating stencils and I really just wanted to keep it simple this week.

Image

The stamp set includes a GORGEOUS butterfly but since the challenge this week is “Sending Flowers”, I decided to save the butterfly for another occasion.

Image

I also used one of Gina’s lovely Master Layouts for this, I used Master Layouts 1. I wish I had ALL of the master layouts because they are all perfection!! I love the thin black border that this one creates.

Image

To create my flower panel, I used a piece of 100 lb. Hammermill Card Stock. I used all of the flowers in the stamp set and I stamped them randomly all over the panel. Next I used the stencil to ink blend the flowers with Simon’s Pawsitively Saturated Ink in the colors Lemonade and Seafoam. To darken up the centers of each flower, I also used Gina K’s Turquoise Sea and Simon’s Citrine. I die cut the panel using the smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 die set. I used the larger of the two to die cut a panel of black card stock to give her this beautiful black border.

Image

I adhered my flower panel to a side folding white card base. For the sentiment, I used CZ Designs Just a Note stamp set. I die cut the oval panel out of white card stock and the scalloped oval from black card stock. I popped both layers up using Foam Tape. I didn’t add any embellishments to this card. I really just wanted the flowers to be the main focus. That’s it! This card could literally be made in under half hour. This is one of those cards that are just great to have in your stash. And you can make it using any combination of colors for the flowers. Just like my son’s future, the possibilities are endless… hehe

Thank you so much for stopping by. I’ll be back next week with a new card and a new challenge.

Hello Sweet Friend

This post is a day late, I apologize. Once again, I had to spend the night in the ER. Oh, the joys of health problems… Anyway, I was excited to share this card because I just love how it turned out! When I was planning out my design, I made kind of a sample pack of the different products I had from Honey Bee Stamps so that I could have a visual of the different products that I had to work with. I had no intentions of combining these two, but when I saw how well they went together I decided to go with it!

Image

I created the embossed background using Honey Bee’s Spring Medley Embossing Folder. I die cut the cover plate with the Delicate Daisy A2 Cover Plate Die.

Image

I used Foam Strips and Squares on the back of my cover plate to pop it up off the embossed background. My sentiments are from the Bitty Buzzwords Stamps and Coordinating Dies. I shadowed my “Hello” with this gorgeous Rose Gold Metallic Card Stock. And to finish off my project and add an extra layer of “girly”, I adhered these Gem Stickers to the centers of every flower.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Colorful Birthday Wishes

Hello again!! It’s time for a brand new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog.  This week our challenge is

We are showcasing Doodlebug Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

Another Birthday card? Sure, why not? You can never have too many Birthday cards on hand, am I right? I actually made this card in honor of a good friend who’s Birthday was last Saturday. She passed away a couple months ago completely unexpectedly. Normally I would have been making her a card last week so I decided to go ahead and make one in memory of her. She was definitely a bright light that was taken way to soon.

Image

Since our challenge was to use patterned paper, I used a couple different ones from Doodlebug. But first I had to decide what I wanted to use as the background layer. I don’t have too many cover plates like this so it was slim pickens. I chose this diamond shaped die called A2 Pierced Blanket Cover Die. I knew my sentiment was going to be nice and colorful so I went with a neutral background layer.

Image

My next layer was cut to 3.75″X5″ and I used Doodlebug’s paper pack called Plaid-Polka Dot Rainbow Petite Prints to start adding some color. I adhered the 2nd layer to the background layer using liquid glue.

Image

My next layer was this beautiful light gray checkered pattern called Buffalo Check-Wood Grain 6×6 Inch Paper Pad and I have to say I really love this light gray color. I only wish I could get an entire paper pack with just that color. I added a scalloped edge by die cutting this panel with a Scallop A2 Card Frames die. I wanted to give it a little girly flare.

Image

Next I worked on my top and final layer. I die cut the word “Birthday” from an alphabet die that I had in my stash and I created several layers to give it dimension. I also chose to pop the scalloped layer up using craft foam. But for my letters I die cut 3 layers using just white card stock and for the top and colorful layer, I used Doodlebug’s Dot Stripe Rainbow Petite Prints 6×6 Inch Paper Pad.

Image

Look at that beautiful dimension!! The “Wish” part of the sentiment is from Lawn Fawn’s Happy, Happy, Happy Stamp Set. I also added a few flat sequins called Glazed Raspberry as a finishing touch. I attached everything to a top folding landscape card base. What I love about Doodlebug’s patterned paper is I used 3 separate pads for this card, but each pack used the same colors just with different designs or patterns. So it made it super easy to coordinate all the different paper packs because all the colors matched. I’m not sure if they’re all like this, but it was for the 3 paper pads that I chose to use.

Happy heavenly Birthday, Danette ~

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

I always have so much fun with Lawn Fawn challenges. This stamp set is so dang cute, I already have a few ideas in mind for the next time I use it. It’s called Treat Cart and there’s a couple add-ons you can get as well. You can turn this into a smoothie/Juice bar or a coffee cart. There’s just so much you can do with this little family of stamps and dies. I didn’t get it this time, but there’s even a Coloring Stencil to assist in coloring this cute little cart!! I chose to color my images with my Copic Markers this time.

Image

I use X-Press It Copic Friendly Card Stock whenever I color with my copic markers. It is by far the best paper for alcohol markers, in my opinion. I used the coordinating dies to die cut my images and used a White Gel Pen to add a little detail.

Image

I popped the cart up and the top panel using Foam Squares and Foam Tape. I used Lawn Fawn’s Lacy Rectangles Die to create my top layer and the Stitched Rectangles Dies for the background panel. Both backgrounds are from my favorite Lawn Fawn paper pad called Rainbow Ever After. I attached everything to a side folding card base.

Image

And a quick peek at the inside of the card.

Image
Image

First off, let me start off by saying a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!! Our challenge this week is dedicated to our 16th Birthday.

Image

To make this card, you’ll want to start out with a piece of 100 lb. Hammermill Card Stock cut to 4.25″X5.5″ or A2. I used the Wavy Rays Stencil by Simon Says Stamp and I ink blended Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink.

Image

Once my ink blending was done, I took each of those colors and I splattered it with a fan brush onto my background panel. I also added some gold splatter from my Finetec Pearlescent Watercolors. I set that aside to dry and I continued. Next I took the Whirl Diamond Plate die and I die cut Simon’s Black Glossy Card Stock. Isn’t it beautiful?

Image

I absolutely LOVE how this die looks over my ink blended panel. That contrasting black really adds to the overall visual appeal. But before attaching the die cut layer to my background panel, I placed a black foam square behind each diamond shape to pop it up for dimension.

Image

My sentiment is also from Simon and it’s called Birthday Wishes. I die cut the word portion of the die with a piece of Mirror Ball Card Stock. I die cut the word layer three additional times using just black card stock for added dimension.

Image

I die cut the shadow portion of the die using black card stock as well. I covered the back of the sentiment with adhesive using my tape runner and I adhered it to the front of my card. I adhered all layers to a top folding black card base.

I loved how that card turned out so much that I went ahead and made a bonus card!!

Image

I’ll just add a few pictures since I made this one exactly how I made the first one. The only difference is I didn’t add the Whirl Diamond Plate die. I love the Wavy Rays stencil and I wanted that to be the focal point on this particular card.

Father’s Day Trio

Image

Hello again!! It’s time for a brand new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog.  This week our challenge is

We are showcasing Waffle Flower Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.  You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Image
Image

This is my new favorite stencil. The possibilities were just flooding my brain. Different color combos, different card stock colors, masculine, feminine. Endless possibilities!! For this challenge, I chose to make some Father’s Day cards.

Image

These were all made the same so I’ll just briefly explain my process and then add a few pictures.

Image

This is my favorite out of the three. It’s really hard to see in the pictures, but I actually stenciled black AND white. So the stencil is from Waffle Flower and it’s called Puffy Squares Stencil. The cool thing about this stencil is you can offset it up or down or left or right and get a completely different look. I ink blended the white and then moved the stencil down and to the left a bit and then ink blended Black Soot Distress Ink. Or you can stencil one color and then move the stencil directly to the left or right and add another color. So that you have a row of alternating colors then a row of just card stock and then another row of stenciled color. I made a side by side panel like that and I didn’t like it as much so I just used this offset method.

Image

I used a Postage Edge die to cut out my panel and added it to a side folding card base.

Image

I did all of these on an A2 panel of Fog Card Stock. For this green version, I used Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Ink and then the same white pigment ink.

Image

The die that I used for the sentiment is also from Waffle Flower and it’s called Father’s Day Word die. I die cut my card front using Simon’s A2 Marquee die.

Image

I popped all three cards up using a panel of craft foam slightly smaller than the card front.

Image

For this final card, I stenciled 3 colors. White, Black Soot Distress Oxide and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Ink.

Image

I used a stitched rectangle die to trim my card front so that I could have a black border. For the sentiment I started with a scrap of blue card stock and I ink blended the top with Prize Ribbon D.O. and the bottom with Black Soot D.O. for an ombre look.

Image

I chose to leave all three cards embellishment free since two of them are for my Dad’s.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Stencils for Mom’s Birthday

Hello again!! It’s time for a brand new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog.  This week our challenge is

I have to say I LOVE how this turned out.  Maybe it’s because I made it for my Mom?  I don’t know, but I really like this card.  Today is my Mom’s Birthday so I made this card for her.  Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Image

I started out with the Pinkfresh Studio’s Thinking of You Stencils.  I used an A2 panel of 100 lb. Hammermill Card Stock and I ink blended these gorgeous lavender blooms.  The stencil includes 4 separate stencils so you can get a nice variety of colors.

Image

I used Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks in the colors Lilac, Amethyst and Orchid.  I even threw a little Fig in there as well.  I used a light green and a dark green for the leaves.  I had originally planned on using the coordinating stamp set to go with my stenciled images but when I saw how beautiful these lavender blooms turned out with just the stenciling, I chose to save the stamp for another occasion.

Image

I stenciled two identical images but for the third image, I heat embossed it with Alabaster White Embossing Powder on Vellum Card Stock.  I think that third image was exactly what I needed.  Before adhering them to my card base, I first adhered a layer of Lovely Lavender Card Stock to my top folding card base.   I used this gorgeous frame die by Pinkfresh Studio called Dotted Fancy Frames Dies which I die cut with a panel of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. Card Stock. Here’s a look at the inside.

Image

I didn’t want just a white background behind the lavender so since this week’s challenge is all about having fun with stencils, I used Simon’s In the Round Stencil and I stenciled a part of the image with Amethyst Ink.  I let it fade off around the edges but it was just enough to give it a little more interest.

Image

I gathered all three lavender branches and I wrapped some jute around the bottom of all 3 stems.  Once I had them loosely attached to one another, I added 3D Foam Squares in several different places so that some would be glued to my background and some would be popped up a bit.  I adhered the branches on my background panel and then I tied a bow using more jute to add to the wrap of juke around the bottom of the stems.  I used a glue dot to keep the juke in place.

Image

For my sentiment, I stamped the Happy with Amethyst Ink.  For the Birthday, I used a die from my stash and I die cut it with a piece of silver foiled card stock.  I die cut 2 additional layers using Neenah Smooth Card Stock and I glued them all together to add more dimension.

Image

I chose to pop the whole fancy dotted frame up using some craft foam to add even more dimension.
To finish off my project, I added a few Silver Metallic Pearls at the top and the bottom.

Image

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

A Novel Birthday

Image

Hello again!! It’s time for a brand new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

We are showcasing Mama Elephant Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

Image
Image

I chose to use a couple different images from Mama Elephant this week. I used the Mama Elephant Book Club Stamp Set and the Mama Elephant Book Worm Stamp Set. I colored my images with my Copic Markers and fussy cut them.

Image

For my background I used a cloud stencil and a stencil that I made for the grass. I ink blended the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and the grass was ink blended using Mowed Lawn. I stamped my sentiment which is also from the Book Club stamp set.

Image

I used Mama Elephant’s Oh Hi Loopy die to create my frame, which I die cut using green glitter card stock. I die cut 2 additional layers from white card stock and then glued them all together. I stamped my sentiment from the Book Club stamp set and popped my critters up with some foam squares.

Image

I thought that their glasses needed some Nuvo Crystal Glaze so first I went over them with a glitter pen and then I added the crystal glaze. To finish off my design, I added a few Pawsitively Dazzling Gems in the color Sprout.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Recycled Kitty Whiskers?

And the Easter theme continues!! We had a really great, loads of fun blog hop last weekend that inspired me to make a set of Easter cards and the theme continues. I just couldn’t resist using Mr. Rabbit here for my project this week. If you want to check out the Easter cards that I made for the blog hop click HERE.

Image

This is Tim Holtz Mr. Rabbit Cling Rubber Stamp. I can’t get over how CUUTE this stamp set is!! Sooo, we know ahead of time what our upcoming challenges are going to be and from the moment I knew I was going to use this particular stamp set, I’ve been collecting… Let me back up a bit. Shari Carroll did something really fun with this stamp about a year ago, she added faux whiskers on her Mr. Rabbit here by cutting some bristles off of a paint brush. Click here if you want to see her adorable Mr. Rabbit video. Well, since I have FIVE cats, I thought it would be fun to “recycle” some of their whiskers!

Image

Let me be clear, no kitty was harmed in the making of this card. That’s very important for me to stress. No, I did not cut off any healthy, viable whiskers from any of my cats, nor should anyone ever do so. Whiskers are very important to a cat for navigation, to help them protect their face and they actually help their balance. There are many more reasons why a cat’s whiskers are so important to them. But I do find them on my comforter frequently because they all spend so much time there. I also find them in their beds too. So for the past month, I’ve been collecting my kitty’s shed whiskers to use on Mr. Rabbit. And I’m so glad I did!! I thought the paint brush could be a backup in case I didn’t find enough natural whiskers in time but I actually tried the faux whiskers and I just didn’t like the way they looked on my rabbit. I like the way the natural whiskers are thicker at one end and then thin out and kind of curl at the other end. So, I decided to recycle my kitties whiskers! Now, there’s a statement I never thought I’d say.

Image

I did trim the whiskers down on the right side after I photographed my card so that I could actually fit this in an envelope, but I have a feeling this is a card I’m going to keep.

Image

I used the additional stamps included in this set to create my background. I took a similar ink color and stamped the images here and there. Then I die cut my background panel with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Image

I added a beautiful layer frame from Tim Holtz called Montage which just so happened to have even more stitching on it. This is the kind of stitching I really wanted to use but I just didn’t have it in me to first locate my sewing machine in my garage, then set it up, try and remember how to use it and add the stitching myself. This is a time when I wish I had one of those mini sewing machines for beginners, small enough to stow away in my craft room somewhere.

Image

I didn’t have the coordinating dies so I just fussy cut his bow and jacket and popped them up with Black Foam Squares which gives it a lovely amount of dimension. I used the thinner squares (.04″)for the bow and jacket and then I used the thicker foam squares (.08″) to pop up Mr. Rabbit.

Image

My sentiment is actually a sticker from the Small Talk collection that I popped up with small foam squares. I attached my card panel to a top folding card base and then my project was complete!!

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
