Wi-Fi at CERN

CERN has several Wi-Fi networks available for users, each designed to suit different use cases. For information on how to connect to a Wireless Network, please choose from the Menu above.

The five SSIDs (Service Set Identifier) you will see are:

CERN-Campus

The new, encrypted, general purpose wireless network currently being rolled out across CERN. Connecting to CERN-Campus requires that you have a CERN Computing account, and have agreed to the CERN Computing Rules. This network gives access to all internal resources at CERN, equivalent to using a wired connection.

CERN-Campus-Register

This network facilitates registering of devices and generation of credentials for CERN-Campus.

CERN-Visitors

This network is designed for users that do not have a CERN Computing account but wish to access the Internet. No access to internal resources is possible from this network. This network is available for all users, including those with CERN Computing accounts but who do not wish or need to access internal resources.

eduroam

This network allows users enrolled in eduroam, either through CERN or another institution/organisation, to connect while at CERN.

CERN

The legacy general purpose wireless network. This network remains while devices migrate to CERN-Campus, and will be removed in due course.

Device Registration

CERN requires that all devices are registered, and that all users accept the CERN Computing Rules - see Device Registration for more information.
