Dakota Johnson's $2,400 Tote Is so Versatile—Cool-Girl Lookalikes From Coach and Kate Spade Start at $26

While others research this season’s new It sneaker, as a city schlepper, I’m more concerned with what tote bags cool girls are securing, like a second appendage to their shoulders, this summer. For all its functional details, like the four protective feet at the base, a spacious interior, and multifunctional pockets, there are fun ones to match. The belted detail near the top and multi-toned leather, for instance, borrow style cues from a traditional men’s briefcase and give it a quaint, workhorse look. I’d style it with a rolled-up copy of the New York Times crossword, a hardback notebook, and John Steinbeck novel.

After carrying the smaller version of the Baggu Bowler bag on several vacations, I can confirm that this fun shape injects so much personality into travel outfits while remaining a versatile piece to cycle through different looks. However, my favorite aspect may be the least sexy: Its nylon material. The lightweight nylon is practically indestructible, easy to clean, and keeps all of my possessions nice and dry when I find myself caught in wicked weather. In addition to the sharp shape, the coffee brown shade gives the bag a more elevated feel. Still, I’m tempted to shop it in fun patterns and colors like gingham and a cool lilac.
