Three 24-inch iMacs

Making Sense of Those 32-inch iMac Rumors

A larger M4 or M5 iMac might surface soon

There are rumors of a 32-inch iMac set to replace the 24-inch iMac. Although nothing has been confirmed officially, here's everything we're hearing about this larger iMac.

When Could a 32-inch iMac Be Released?

Apple hasn't said anything about this iMac yet, so we can't confirm it's in the pipeline. Instead, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman dispenses this information, but it's likely accurate because he's a reliable source for Apple rumors like this.

Here’s why the rumors are growing:

Is Apple Even Considering the Release of Any Kind of iMac?

Back in November 2023, Apple made a statement confirming that a 27-inch iMac wasn’t in the works. But that doesn’t mean it has abandoned the idea of a larger iMac altogether. Gurman has repeatedly said that a bigger model is still being explored. It could even be Apple’s way of revisiting what the iMac Pro once was, without calling it that.

Our Thoughts on Potential 32-inch iMac Features

The obvious upgrade here is the jump to a 32-inch screen, likely with mini-LED tech for better brightness and contrast. We expect it to carry over the current iMac’s design, meaning a thin chassis and a white border around the display.

As for what’s inside, Apple’s newer iMacs all run on Apple Silicon. The company moved to its own chips with the M1 iMac in 2020 and released the M4 iMac in late 2024. So it’s safe to assume this larger iMac will use Apple Silicon too—likely the M4 chip or a future M5 chip, depending on the release timeline.

We don’t have any other confirmed specs yet, but if this machine is aimed at professionals, higher RAM ceilings and more ports aren’t out of the question.

What Industry Experts Are Saying

Gurman’s been the most consistent voice here. In his Power On newsletter, he’s said multiple times that Apple is still interested in serving the pro market and that a larger-screen iMac is probably coming eventually. Whether that’s in 2025 or later is still unclear.

Ming-Chi Kuo added more weight to the rumor mill by predicting a 32-inch iMac with a mini-LED panel, which is something that would line up with what Apple has done with the MacBook Pro. Kuo’s prediction initially pointed to 2024, but the lack of updates could mean it’s been delayed.
