The former Zimmer Biomet executive will lead the company’s U.S. commercial expansion and global growth strategy ahead of demand increases for its surgical guidance technologies.
Besançon, France-based Pixee — which has its U.S. base in Cambridge, Massachusetts — develops the FDA-cleared Knee+ NexSight augmented reality (AR)-based solution.
The company designed its AR-based technology for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures. It already picked up CE mark and subsequently launched in Europe just before earning FDA clearance in April. The company said its focus centers on ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), with the technology designed to integrate seamlessly into high-demand environments, streamlining workflows without adding complexity.
Goson joins as the company looks to strengthen its leadership ahead of its next phase of growth with U.S. commercialization. Founder and former CEO Sébastien Henry will continue to help build the next generation of AR and AI tech for orthopedic surgery, the company said.
Pixee’s new CEO joins with 23 years of leadership experience at Zimmer Biomet, where he served as global VP and GM. He led businesses that generated more than $1 billion in annual revenue and scaled multiple orthopedic technology franchises.
Commentary from Pixee Medical leadership
Goson said:
“Enabling technologies have transformed orthopedic surgery, but access remains uneven. Surgeons and healthcare providers need solutions that improve precision without adding complexity, significant cost, long learning curves, or implant lock-in. Pixee’s personalized augmented reality platform, powered by connective intelligence, will democratize precision orthopedic surgery across care settings, including Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Because ultimately, the purpose of innovation is not the technology itself, it’s patient impact.”
Henry added:
“After clinically validating a technology now used in more than 10,000 procedures, the natural next step was to add world-class commercial leadership to scale it across the US, the world’s largest orthopedic market. Kristoff lets us do exactly that, while I focus on what I love most — pioneering the next generation of augmented reality and AI for orthopedic surgeons.”
