The 2027 recruiting class for the LSU Tigers grows, as 4-star safety Jayden Anding is staying in his home state of Louisiana. This commitment was announced by Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday afternoon, bringing the 2027 LSU class to 16 recruits.
Anding is the No. 329 overall prospect and No. 29 safety in the class of 2027. He ranks as the No. 11 player in Louisiana, according to the Rivals Industry ranking.
LSU is currently the 10th-ranked recruiting class overall and the 5th-highest-ranked SEC class on Rivals. Now, this commitment adds some depth in the secondary that this Tigers’ class needed, as Anding is just the third commitment who will operate on that third level of the defense.
Anding chose to stay home and attend LSU, picking the Tigers over schools such as Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miami, and Kansas State. As far as visits go, LSU and Oklahoma were the only schools to get visits, and the Sooners seemingly missed out on a gem to add to their top 10 2027 class.
What Jayden Anding Brings to LSU
An off-ball safety who brings a high motor, operates very well downhill, and doesn’t miss tackles in open space. Anding clearly enjoys hitsticking the heck out of anybody running his way. Whether it’s a running back and Anding is attacking downhill, or a receiver going up for the ball but can’t get it because Anding makes a big hit.
Anding’s senior season was cut short by injury, but in his junior campaign, he posted 64 tackles and 4 interceptions.
It’s also important to note that Anding will be joining his older brother, current LSU cornerback Aiden Anding, continuing the family lineage at LSU.
