2026 SUMMER TRADE WATCH LIST 3.0
As of July 5, 2026 | 2:05pm ET
The silly season is upon us, yet again, and with that comes our Summer Trade Watch List, as teams look to improve going into the 2026-27 campaign.
As we do every season, TFP has outlined some of the top names reportedly available this summer according to various media reports and our own league-wide sources. Omitted from the list are Unrestricted Free Agents.
This page will be updated frequently and TFP’s panel of experts will outline each player’s value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added.
NOTE: Teams linked to players, based off various media reports and internal sources, will be updated regularly.
AGE: 29
CAP HIT: $8.7M
1. Dylan Larkin, C - Detroit Red Wings
Larkin’s trade request surprised many, but frustration with the team’s lack of success has boiled over. The Red Wings know which teams he will waive his NTC for and talks continue. Detroit GM Steve Yzerman won’t rush into a move, but he knows he can’t let things linger, either.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Vegas, Florida, Minnesota, San Jose, Dallas, New Jersey
AGE: 26
CAP HIT: RFA
2. Jason Robertson, LW - Dallas Stars
The ask is a $14M AAV from the Stars, that’s what Jason Robertson wants on his next contract from Dallas. The answer continues to be “no” and barring a change from the Stars, they continue to explore the trade market, even though GM Jim Nill has expressed his desire to keep him.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Seattle, Ottawa, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Utah, San Jose
AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $7.5M
3. Morgan Rielly, LD - Toronto Maple Leafs
Rielly’s tenure in Toronto may be coming to an end. The Leafs have a general sense of which teams he would waive his NMC for, and while Rielly wouldn’t mind going to the Western Conference, he is open to options in the East. He’s got 4 years left on his contract.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
San Jose, Anaheim, Seattle, Los Angeles, Philadelphia
AGE: 22
CAP HIT: $886,666
4. Shane Wright, C - Seattle Kraken
The Kraken are trying to make a big splash this off-season and add a top-tier player - packaging Wright in a trade for just that could be in the cards. As TFP first reported earlier in the season, Wright is available and is also open to a change of scenery.
Teams reportedly Linked:
Vancouver, Nashville
AGE: 29
CAP HIT: $5.5M
5. Jake DeBrusk, LW - Vancouver Canucks
DeBrusk has made it clear he does not want to endure a rebuild and the Canucks are trying to find him a new home. He owns a full no-movement clause, but is open to various destinations and the expectation is that he will be moved at some point this off-season.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Columbus, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Seattle, Edmonton, Montreal
AGE: 24
CAP HIT: RFA
6. Alexander Nikishin, LD - Carolina Hurricanes
The asking price and the fit might not align for the Hurricanes, which is why they’ve been dangling him as trade bait. In fact, he was dangled ahead of the trade deadline, as well, and given his RFA status, his future in Raleigh, for now, seems bleak.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
San Jose, Boston, Winnipeg, St. Louis, Los Angeles
AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $8.5M
7. Connor Hellebuyck, G - Winnipeg Jets
The Jets don’t want to move Hellebuyck, but noise of a trade request has gotten louder since TFP’s David Pagnotta reported in May that teams were calling Winnipeg and poking around. Given Hellebuyck’s desire to win a Stanley Cup and Winnipeg’s need to fill multiple holes on the roster, it’s possible a move can be made this summer.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Florida, Buffalo, New Jersey, Utah
AGE: 24
CAP HIT: $3.375M
8. Jack Quinn, RW - Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are dangling Quinn as trade bait and have since prior to the NHL Draft. He’s entering the last year of his current contract and is still controllable. If Buffalo can package him in a deal for a roster upgrade, that seems like the goal.
Teams reportedly Linked:
Winnipeg
AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $5.1M
9. Rasmus Ristolainen, RD - Philadelphia Flyers
Ristolainen’s entering the last year of his current contract and the Flyers are willing to entertain calls on him. Philadelphia explored moves with several teams ahead of the trade deadline in March and some of those clubs could revisit talks this summer.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton, Boston
AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $6M
10. Jordan Binnington, G - St. Louis Blues
Binnington is entering the final year of his contract and with Joel Hofer ready to take the reigns, the Blues are expected to try and move the 32-year-old netminder this summer. Binnington may be part of an interesting summer for the goalie carousel.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Edmonton, Toronto, New Jersey
AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $6.25M
11. Adin Hill, G - Vegas Golden Knights
Hill may be a cap casualty in Vegas, as the Golden Knights may need to free up space for some of their off-season activity. The issue is teams want Vegas to retain some of his contract and that may not be in the cards. Hill is entering the second year of a six-year, $37.5M contract and owns a 10-team no-trade list.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Winnipeg, New Jersey
AGE: 27
CAP HIT: $4.375M
12. Morgan Frost, C - Calgary Flames
The Flames are open to moving Frost, who is entering the last year of his current contract. He can slot into a mid-six centre position and has some say with an eight-team no-trade list.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 27
CAP HIT: $11.6M
13. Elias Pettersson, C - Vancouver Canucks
Vancouver re-engaged in trade discussions with other clubs about Pettersson. There seems to be a sense around the NHL that the Canucks may now be willing to retain a small portion of his contract to help facilitate a trade and we’ll see if new GM Ryan Johnson finds a deal he likes.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Detroit, Los Angeles, Montreal, Carolina
AGE: 29
CAP HIT: $3.5M
14. Yakov Trenin, C - Minnesota Wild
The Wild have been shopping Trenin and ideally want to package him up in a deal for a second-line centre, but they could pivot and move him for other assets to a team looking for a third-line centre.
Teams reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 24
CAP HIT: $3.775M
15. Connor Zary, C - Calgary Flames
The Flames are open for business and listening on several players, and Zary is one of them. He has two years left on his contract and Calgary’s actively dangling him out there.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $5M
16. Jared McCann, LW - Seattle Kraken
The Kraken are once again gauging the market on McCann, who owns a 10-team no-trade list. A goal-scorer with a solid cap hit, teams looking to bolster their offensive depth could come calling.
Teams reportedly Linked:
Ottawa, Buffalo
AGE: 22
CAP HIT: $972,500
17. Danila Yurov, C - Minnesota Wild
The Wild are going all-in for the 2026-27 season and potentially moving Yurov only occurs as a result of another big fish coming to Minnesota. He’s a strong, valuable asset they are dangling as bait.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Detroit
AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5M
18. Rickard Rakell, RW - Pittsburgh Penguins
Given the market landscape, the Penguins are willing to listen on calls for Rakell and if a team is willing to pay a solid price to bolster their offence, Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas is taking the call. Rakell has two years left on his deal and owns an eight-team no-trade list.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Edmonton, Dallas
AGE: 34
CAP HIT: $5.125M
19. Bryan Rust, RW - Pittsburgh Penguins
Rust is in the same boat as Rakell, though he does not own any no-trade protection. If the Penguins try to take a big swing, he could be used as a piece to a package. He has two-years left on his contract.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 25
CAP HIT: RFA
20. Kirby Dach, C - Montreal Canadiens
Dach is currently a restricted free agent and the Habs appear open to moving him if they can upgrade their roster up front. Montreal hasn’t given up on him and still hope he reaches his potential - he performed well throughout the playoffs - but if the Canadiens can add an impact forward, Dach could be on the outs.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 25
CAP HIT: $3.2M
21. Mason Lohrei, LD - Boston Bruins
The Bruins explored moving Lohrei ahead of the trade deadline and will continue to dangle him as bait this off-season. Boston is looking to upgrade its roster at both ends of the rink and could package Lohrei in a deal to address one of those areas.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Calgary
AGE: 25
CAP HIT: $4.82M
22. Jesperi Kotkaniemi, C/LW - Carolina Hurricanes
Kotkaniemi remains a trade candidate. He has four years left on his contract and wasn’t able to crack the lineup in the playoffs. Carolina prefers to trade him and will aim to do so this summer.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $7.875M
23. Alex DeBrincat, RW - Detroit Red Wings
Given Larkin’s situation, teams have inquired about DeBrincat’s availability. It doesn’t seem like Detroit is eager to move him, but he’s now in the last year of his contract and if his demands are too high, the Red Wings might explore moving him.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 29
CAP HIT: $3.15M
24. Sam Montembeault, G - Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens are trying to move Montembeault, who has one year left on his contract. The netminder lost his spot in goal in Montreal and with several teams re-evaluating that position, he could come in as a backup elsewhere.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4.571M
25. Frank Vatrano, LW/RW - Anaheim Ducks
Given Anaheim’s cap gymnastics they are practicing as a result of Leo Carlsson’s offer sheet with Philadelphia, the early word is the Ducks are seeing how they are create more cap space for other moves/signings and Vatrano may be the odd man out. He has a 7-team no-trade list and two years left on his deal.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
TBD
