In 2019 we launched Netlify Functions. In 2023, Functions 2.0 rebuilt the whole experience around Developer Experience. Today we're taking it to the next frontier: Agent Experience. Here's what shipped. 🧵

What happens after the MVP matters. @thisiskp_ shares how our #HotAppSummer app went from an AI-built prototype to an engineer adding features and security checks without rebuilding the project. Now THAT'S a workflow worth paying attention to. 👇

Per-function compute, defined in code. Region (run close to your users or data), memory up to 4 GB, and CPU up to 2 vCPU, all configurable per function. Validate it in a deploy preview before it hits production.

The best part: it's all additive. Every existing signature keeps working. Nothing is deprecated. No migration. Build more, better, faster, with your agents alongside you.

A #HotAppSummer build that answers a question you didn't know you had: what's the weather like in space right now? 🛰️☀️ Dana built Outer Space News, pulling live NOAA space-weather data (geomagnetic activity, solar wind, K-index) into a gloriously retro observatory bulletin,
Screenshot of a dark, futuristic dashboard titled “Top Dispatch & Bulletins” from the Interstellar Weather Bureau. The main headline reads, “A Tranquil Afternoon on the Heliocentric Walkway.” Below, an “Observatory Feed” attributed to “Silas Sol · Solar Sentinel” summarizes today’s space weather. Three status cards report calm geomagnetic conditions: Earth’s magnetic field is stable with a planetary K-index of 0.0, solar wind speed is 456 km/s, and the “Vibe Check” notes the exospheric shield is standing tall. A collapsed section at the bottom offers access to a raw NOAA teleprinter roll with a complete three-day forecast.

AI agents don't just call models. They call your API. They authenticate, hit errors, parse responses, and decide whether to keep going. Most services were never built for that. Today, we're launching AXIS: an open source way to measure how well your service works with AI
Screenshot of the AXIS Report dashboard displayed on a white panel against a dark teal background. The header features the AXIS logo, the word “Report,” and a large green digital-style score of 84. Below is a table comparing AI agent performance across scenarios, with columns for Axis score, goal achievement, environment, service, agent rating, token usage, duration, and cost. Colored score badges in green, yellow, and red indicate performance metrics for different Claude Code configurations. The visible section includes scenarios such as “Agent Runners: Check run status” and “Agent Runners: Delegate second opinion,” presenting benchmarking data for AI coding agents.

Scores aren't pass/fail. They're a baseline and a direction. Run it honestly, see where agents struggle, and improve from there.

Here's a #HotAppSummer build for anyone stuck at the gate watching boarding time slip. ✈️☀️ Dana built Terminal B, a pocket arcade of airport mini-games to kill the wait: tap-fast boarding, memory sequences, baggage match, and layover trivia, all on a live departures-board
Airport-themed arcade game menu screen styled like a departures board. The title reads “TERMINAL B” across split-flap display tiles. A countdown timer appears in the top-right corner. Below, the tagline says, “The Gate-Side Arcade – Pick a Flight, Kill the Wait.” Four selectable game cards are listed like flights: “Catch Your Flight” with a yellow airplane icon, “Boarding Sequence” with a teal signal icon, “Baggage Match” with a blue brain icon, and “Layover Trivia” with a pink question mark icon. Each card includes a flight number and short subtitle. A “Frequent Flyer Board” leaderboard section sits at the bottom. The interface uses a dark navy background with neon-inspired yellow, teal, blue, and pink accents, resembling a futuristic airport departure terminal.
