With the population of Sydney set to increase by 1.1 million in the next 25 years, the NSW Government is planning now for Sydney's future
through the Metropolitan Strategy.
City of Cities: A Plan for Sydney's Future was released in December 2005. It supports continuing economic growth while balancing social and environmental impacts. It is based on anticipated population, economic and demographic trends, and has been developed with five aims: enhance liveability, strengthen economic competitiveness, ensure fairness, protect the environment, and improve governance.
