I purchased this to free up my primary m.2 slot for a larger and faster drive but still keep the original drive that came with my computer. I only had one pcie x1 slot open, so this seemed like the best option. It seems to work pretty well, even using it with the bootable drive. I ran benchmarks both before and after and only sequential read speed was significantly impacted, dropping down to about 700-800 MBps. The heatsink seemed to work well too, after running the benchmarks I saw about a 20 degF temperature drop with the heatsink and the new drive location.
The only negatives are the cheap feeling silicon band mounting system for the heatsink and the insecure mounting system for the adapter card. The card is only held in by the pcie slot, which is not very firm. I wouldn't trust the card to stay mounted if I jostled the computer very much. I'm retrospect I wish I had purchased one that attaches to the case.
It works well, able to saturate the pcie x1 interface (aprox 400MB/sec) and the heatsink is a nice touch.
The only thing making me nervious is there isn't a way to secure this to the slot it's in, so I am guessing if your case is sideways and subject to vibration this might pop out of the pcie slot.
It was missing 1x M.2 SSD to PCI- E 1X adapter in each package and I got 3. Returning all. Beware
