Our data team analyzed Moovit app usage in São Paulo, Brazil's largest city, during the Brazil vs. Japan match. The results were striking: bus, train, and metro activity was 61% above the daily average at 1:00 PM, one hour before kickoff, as fans rushed to reach their destinations. Once the match started, transit activity dropped sharply, reaching 36% below the average at 4:00 PM—almost exactly when Brazil scored the winning goal.
