I’m Max Siling, also known as goldstein. I like learning stuff, teaching stuff, and peering deep into the abyss until it meows back.
I’m currently hacking on unflake, which is a reimplementation of Nix flakes in userspace. I think we can radically improve workflows here without breaking compatibility with the rest of the ecosystem. check it out and join me on this exciting journey of figuring out whether flakes exist and can hurt us.
as a part of that, I did a Great Nix Flake Check: I downloaded, locked and evaluated every flake I can get my hands on, so I can find any remaining bugs in unflake and gather some other fun data. I then wrote a big writeup on everything I found.
